I disagree. The Flyers have been worse than mediocre for years. - Cptmjl
Torts bringing them right back to mediocrity and the playoff bubble purgatory. Fun times. |

Horvat will likely play center and Barzal becomes a playmaking wing - BringNYIhome
Like I said who knows where the lines wind up. This rarely turns out to be an instant thing. |

No shot. He would easily play. Not sure where this thought is coming from - BringNYIhome
He was already healthy scratched 3 times for Ross facking Johnston. Holmstrom is out playing him and so is Fasching. Like I said his arse is in the press box if all healthy. He is that bad this season. How is this even debatable? |

True. With Lee and Bailey making a combined 12 million this seems like a bargain. I wish Lou could move either player but I doubt there would ever be a taker on either. Lee is definitely untradeable - BringNYIhome
A bargain but you said old man river (Lou) just traded the future for a rental in Bo.
Now it’s a bargain and now you’re on to Lee and Bailey.

Nope you definitely aren’t. Torts has a track record. Unfortunately so does the Flyers roster and he can’t even help it
Talk tomorrow night |

Ok let’s just talk tomorrow after the game.
You can’t blame your mediocrity on Trots.
As I said your team has been stuck in mediocrity for years.
So let me say I feel your pain. We had an ex Flyer run our team in mediocrity for years in Garth Snow.
Maybe you guys should reach out to him for the GM job

My reply was to a post stating we fell below mediocrity, which I agreed with. Torts is bringing us right back to it, this is the direction our terrible organization has decided. |

Yes sorry for that. We hired Lou and he has definitely elevated our organization ten fold.
Hopefully you can find that same success or better in the future. You certainly have some pieces in place to do that. |

Big scratch ... He will def help.. The Isles have a great goalie and solid D .. If he takes pressure off Barzal while still scoring at his pace.. It's a good deal.
The last 2 years might be yucky.. but his game has never been about banging. Should age pretty well. I give it a B+ - dozerD10
Horvat works his ass off in the off season and comes back better than the year before. He has done this every season he has been in Van. Obviously he can’t improve forever, and he’ll have a hard time matching what he’s done this year, but he’s a player that always finds a way to contribute. If you make the post season, dude levels up big time in big games.
Super low maintenance player. High character. I would be surprised if he takes his foot of the gas now that he’s gotten paid. 8.5 isn’t a bargain, but he’ll never be an anchor and for the next handful of seasons you should get full value. I’ll miss watching him in Van. |

Welp, it's not 11 million.
Sounds like just the cost of NY getting what they needed. Not so bad. |

Treat our captain well boys. He was about 58-60% on face offs for most of his career. That puck possession will be huge and I look forward to seeing him and Barzal play together. Good luck fellas. |

Horvat is a shoot first player. I know everyone on here wants to play Barzal on the wing but it makes sense.
I was for moving Barzal to the wing because Horvat is a stronger center. Both defensively and on faceoffs then Barzal. I felt moving Barzal to the wing would allow him the freedom to his thing and not hurt the team defensively.

If people analyze anything long enough you will find a million things wrong and millions things right with it. Ultimately it is what you willing to live with.
The bottom line, this deal is good for the Islanders. It sends message to the team that management is willing to improve for playoffs. It sends a message to agents and free agents that management can lure and sign a UFA. FINALLY !!!!
To the fans that think Lou got fleeced. You would be the same fans complaining that Lou gave up 3 components and did not sign Horvat.
Look I wanted a winger. Sometimes you just need to take the best player available.
I like the deal. I still think Lou may make another move.

I understand the thought process. Like I said in my post I don’t think it’s going to be some instant thing where the lines are set with whatever Lambert throws out there tonight. Rarely works like that. Problem is they don’t have all that much time to figure it out so hopefully it doesn’t take long to find some chemistry. |

Over his career Bo Horvat has averaged 55 points per 82 games.
He's Kreider without the chaos. |

You only have ~$7 Million in cap space this summer.
The good news is that you don't have a ton of guys to sign next season.
The bad news is that more than half of your forwards are over the age of 30. |
