Hughes package starts with Nemec and Mercer (though NJ probably prefers to offer Holtz), Mukhamudullin and a first. NJ has cost controlled excellent prospects that Vancouver needs in the long run, but if NJ *really* wants to unite the Hughes brothers, they'll be paying through the teeth for 4 more years of cost controlled QH. - Bartacus

Something around Nemec and Holtz for Hughes would probably work well for both squads. - BringNYIhome
NO, it doesn’t! Nemec will likely be the equivalent of Hughes or maybe better. Would rather hold assets and take my chances with our current D and the upcoming prospects. Devils finally look to have turned the corner, don’t need to chase unneeded shiny objects.
as soon as Miller was signed.. Horvat was being traded...as for Hughes, it makes no sense to trade him, even if to tank... he is still plenty young. He should be part of the core going forward and the Canucks should build around him.
The only way he gets traded is if someone offers Rutherford something astronomical in return.

I don't like the idea of trading Hughes out of Vancouver but if the offer was insanely loaded with prospects like Nemec, Holtz and Mercer I would probably take it. Maybe toss in a draft pick making it 4 for 1. It would eventually be a huge win for Nucks.
Why would anybody be talking about trading Quinn Hughes? Young, good player, team first kind of guy on very friendly team contract. Would be borderline insane for New Jersey to risk blowing up their great season. Devils are a really good young team. They are a great story. Why would they want take the focus off of their season?
Has anybody seen this idea postulated anywhere, by anyone before today?

Right, so you don't want them to trade for Quinn Hughes, and fair enough. However, the point is that if the NJD did make a trade for Quinn Hughes, a trade return built around Nemec would be the expectation.

It's not likely to happen, but it's been talked about ever since NJD drafted Luke Hughes.

Pretty sure it is a topic that has been talked about in the comments of Canucks blogs,at least once.
Yeah yeah, Quinn Hughes could never, ever be traded. The best players in the game have been , but not Hughes. Nope. Most untouchable player ever. Totally. - DarthProbert
I’m sure if this is sarcasm. If not, there a 100+ players I would keep over Hughes.
Any decent player nets a 1st, high prospect, and a player. That is the league standard. So Hughes would definitely get at least that. And if I'm VanCity, any deal involved Nemec is a win.
