The Devils are also 12-2-2 in their last 16 games. |

Fitzy shouldve sent them tatar - Theathletic is for libs
Think the blues were limited with his NTC
Tarasenko has always done well in the playoffs
Will also have breadman creating space
Not sure if he signs with them in the offseason |

"Everybody is sitting here and looking at what the Devils are gonna do. I do think the Devils have said to the Sharks, 'before you do anything on Meier, make sure we get a final shot at this'. Thats kind of the word around the league right now." - Friedman in his latest 32 Thoughts |

I wouldn't do more than say, Holtz, Shar and 1st. Mercer must be considered untouchable unless you go for a Draistl caliber player.
I kind of am against all you in terms of overpaying. Unless I don't know Timo's true value.

Either it's going to play out till the deadline where the sharks hope teams get desperate or a team is going to swoop in and make a deal, I can't see the sharks telling a team oh yeah hold on gotta reach out to the devils if your offer is one we would accept
Almost sense the devils made an offer but was not good enough so they are hoping that another team makes a offer that they can then beat |

Teams do this all the time. Its why the Canucks got so much heat for not shopping the Isles offer for Horvat before making the deal, its a pretty common thing to do in trade negotiations. Sharks would be incredibly dumb to not go back to the Devils to try to increase their return even more, since it seems like the Devils may be unwilling to get outbid here.
The sense i got from what Friedman said is that the Devils are continuing to push their offer, but want a chance to beat any last minute offer that SJ might prefer if it got to that point. Fitz wants him bad. |

If he wants him so bad just up the ante now. Every game that passes is a lesser portion of season you benefit from having him.
I really hope this doesn’t come down to deadline day for many reasons. |

No point in throwing your best offer out there if you feel like you can get a deal done with less. I dont blame him for waiting, and I personally wouldnt give my very best offer until the eleventh hour if it gets to that point. If Fitz feels a deal can get done without Mercer being involved, he's not gonna throw Mercer in just to get it done a few weeks earlier. |

I don’t think I can take 3 weeks of this poop. Just get it done asap. |

Sort of how I feel at this point but I guess that why I’m sitting at my computer and not an NHL GM.
The fact that the Isles got a stud and Rangers got a solid goal scorer makes it that much more frustrating. |

Yeah its definitely frustrating seeing your division be the teams landing all the top trade targets and improving their teams, which lessens your options. Add onto that, that it seems like the Canes might be the biggest threat of beating us for Meier. Definitely sucks.
Tarasenko was my plan B by a good margin in terms of realistic options, so if we miss out on Meier i think im in the camp of just do nothing in terms of trying to improve the top 6 until the summer. I really dont want Boeser unless the Canucks retain a massive amount of his contract, and even then im just not excited about him. I think its Meier or bust for me now, and just try to improve the bottom 6 and add a depth D at that point. |

feel like this goes to the deadline, and if you're san jose what's really your rush? Also could be as simple he doesn't want to sign here. Who knows |

Agreed - as of right now there is no one out there aside from Meier at this point that will move the needle enough to blow things up within the top-6. Perhaps a name will become available that hasn't been tossed around or been flying under the radar?
We are a playoff bound team and need to start thinking of what its going to take to win a 7 game series. Depth within the bottom 6 and on the blue-line.
If we can upgrade anyone from the BMW line that would be a plus and not sure what to do about the blueline. Only person I can think of replacing is SMITH, but we need him and his physicality come the playoffs. AND we have L. Hughes waiting to potentially join the roster after his season concludes.
I trust Fitzy to do the right thing because until this point his track record has been spectacular (although I never thought I'd say I miss Zacha ). However, curious to see what he does now that they are finally buying and not selling at the deadline. |

It's funny how this season we're getting goaltending and it's stealing us a ton of games. This is the exact problem other teams have where their coaches are poop but they get a long leash because the wins have piled up. Lindy should be on the hot seat because for a long while now we've been getting outchanced every game and essentially have gotten lucky.
Something Lindy can do is actually play players who are better defensively. Boqvist and Zetterlund are consistently better defensively than McLeod and Wood. Having our 4th line play against harder comp every night because they are the "gritty energy line" and then almost losing is just plain stupid. |

I disagree. Ruff does do things that make you scratch your head, but having the 2nd best winning % in the NHL with about a 1/3 left of the season isn't lucky.

We were getting killed in December because we got caved in every game and average goaltending. We're winning in January/February because we're getting elite goaltending while getting caved in every game. |

I would argue that our goaltending looked average in December because we were playing far superior opponents that month vs the opponents played in January.

PREACH about Bo! I've actually liked a lot of what Boqvist has done both this year and last year tbh, and i have absolutely not idea why hes not in the lineup. He's likely never going to hit his offensive ceiling and he's going to be inconsistent offensively, but hes a perfectly capable bottom 6 player. His defense is above average(68th percentile) and his forechecking numbers have been either THE best or 2nd best on the team(either him or Palat). McLeod brings only faceoffs and nothing else, Woody legit brings nothing to the table besides skating in a straight line trying to get a breakaway on a stretch play(which he literally never scores on anyway lol).
The teams play has been dogpoop for over a month now, and the BMW has consistently been their worst line on a nightly basis, yet that is seemingly the only line Ruff refuses to shake up. Our bottom 6 as a whole has been really rough though, which is very concerning come a playoff series. |
