Sort of a veer here, but if we aren't going to use Pulock as our trigger on the PP, maybe we should consider trading him. It was his shot that pushed him into the first round and made him so appealing. - keaner17
Or they just incorporate him into the PP, instead of the play being Barzal skating around the ice with the puck. |

#Isles place J-G Pageau on IR retro to 2/11. Andy Andreoff recalled from Bridgeport (AHL)

He must of been dealing with something for a while. I don't think he was very good last year, honestly. This year he started off like he might have a resurgence and then suddenly dropped off. |

They could, but don't. Largely because firing a puck at 103mph means little if you can't get it within the same zip code as the net.
While we all gripe about Barzy's icecapades during the pp, I get the feeling if we remove him it won't get any better. No matter what it always comes back to us overpasses to set up low-percentage opportunities. I love Anders but I really wish we had a better alternative to plant in front of the net |

If you remember Mark Streit was the guy who gained the zone, and once he left that zone entry was never replaced. Instead, for obvious reasons, Barzal carried the puck in. I get the idea of him carrying it in, but once inside the line, there appears to be stagnation. I noticed Horvat the other night constantly moving away from the PK to create a passing lane with his stick up. Nobody else would do that.
As for Lee, if he isnt that guy in front of the net, then I see no purpose of keeping him. He's not beating anyone on the wing... |

What was the matter with the Islanders' power play during the 1992-93 season? Turgeon and King combined for something like 45 power play goals that season under the coaching of Al Arbour. - JohnScammo

Maybe I’m wrong but I think the point that was being made is that the PP hasn’t been good for decades. 1984 or 1992. What’s the difference. It’s 30+ years of not being a threat with the man advantage.
Personally I attribute it to not having the firepower. The isles are notorious for going with guys who may not have the ability to perform consistently but are expected to perform consistently. Bailey is a perfect example. A couple elite passes does not make him an elite player, yet he’s on that first line (underperforming) - kindlyrick
This team was not put together well going back to Garth. We can change coaches, but if the roster remains mostly the same it will be an issue. |

"It's exciting," Anders Lee said. "The guys had some pop today. We've got a big weekend ahead of us and it starts tomorrow night. We know the importance of the next few and I think we're looking forward to it. It's going to be some hard-nosed hockey."

Ironically, they were rebuilding through the draft, which only works if you draft well. Not to have revisionist history but if you took every pick from the Snow years, dating back to 2007, and flipped every first rounder for an established NHLer, you'd have been better off today.

I think it's the coaching on the PP at least this year. Watch our PK . The other team has a guy right in front of our goalie. The Islanders don't get right in front of opponents goalie. Look at the 2 goals Vancouver scored against Islanders. Beau was in front of Sorokin. When the hell was he ever in front of a goalie when he played for Islanders??? |

Maybe that is on Islanders PK for not moving them out of there. Still it never seems like Islanders PP had anyone there. |

Does John Maclean get that job if not for his relationship with Lou?

I asked Lambert what the message was to Bailey, after he was benched Tuesday, now off line 1:
"You move certain people around [...] There's no demotion, so to speak, or anything like that. His value is his value, and he's very valuable in all different situations." |

As long as Bailey is a nice guy and he is not young that's all that matters. |
