After an abysmal first half and getting accustomed to the new position. And he’s a rookie as you love to point out for others. So scoring is not this issue
- ClaudeFather

Yes it is. He scored at a much higher rate and was more effective offensively as a winger. We'll see what happens. I don't think he'll be able to produce at a high enough rate to be an effective top 6 center.

His scoring rate at 5 on 5 is 8th among Flyers forwards.
- MJL

His last 24 games he’s scoring at a better rate at center than your magical 16 game sample size last year at wing 😂 can’t make it up, just facts right

Any accepting team would probably get Hayes at 50% AND some picks from the Flyers. Like Ottawa getting rid of Zaitsev.

Well then that’s a hard no.

I need to educate you on what a fact is. Your first statement is an opinion, not a fact. Also the conversation is about what is the best position for Cates. Not about if he has a higher upside that those players. You seem confused. I am speculating about his upside. That's what potential is all about. Speculating. LOL. We have a sample of what he can do playing on the wing. Hayes should be playing center and Cates should be at LW on a line with Frost and Tippett.

how many games is that pro sample? 15 games.

Past 24 games, larger sample size, he’s scoring at a higher rate as center. So if we are going off Facts, case closed

Desnoyers closing in on 20 goals at LV. He has been a plesant surprise at a position that is sorely lacking depth. Hope he has a good training camp and makes the roster.
- Trox88

For what’s it’s worth, I was at the Phantoms game on Sunday and we were able to skate on the ice w the team after. I’ve seen 4 or 5 games on tv and glad I was able to see Desnoyers in person. He def has a legit shot at being a middle 6 forward in the NHL. He does everything well and doesn’t always need the puck to be effective. Seems very responsible with good hands, but yes, he def needs weight. Had 3 pts, but was good all around.

He was kind enough to make a production out of our 5 yr old twin boys on the ice, posed for a number of nauseating pictures and was very very humble during a brief three minute conversation. Nice kid and a reminder just how great most hockey players are off the ice.

Weber has 3 years remaining on his deal after this year. His total salary for those 3 years in 3M. Ellis has 4 years remaining on his deal and the total salary for those years is 24M. Trading Weber and Ellis is not the same thing.
- MJL

Hopefully the Ellis contract was insured. Then a team that trades for it wouldn't have to pay most of the money.

Why wouldn't you look at the whole season where he's been playing center with mostly the best wingers on the team?

Frank Seravalli said that Farabee camp is not happy with their situation right now and that he may be on the block as Torts doesn't think he'll be a part of their future. Said maybe not trade deadline but likely pre-draft. Not sure I believe this since Torts has put other players in his doghouse this year. It's just been Farabee's turn in the barrel recently. He'll be let out soon enough like the others were,

Why would you look at a 16 game sample size in garbage time for a non playoff team?

Do you guys ever think about how jack Eichel was on the market and we had the assets but we traded for Risto and Ellis.

does he get any slack at all since he is learning a new position at the nhl level on the fly?

Does the coaches expectations for said player also factor into play?

He clearly was figuring out a new position earlier in the year, as a rookie, this is a stupid question. I’m not pretending his last 24 games is the Bible on his play, but I have to bring it up when 16 games from last year is constantly thrown around on this site

All for trading for talent but I can see why a team would be hesitant here. Look at Farabee, same surgery, hasn’t found his game. Eichel is in and out of the lineup as well, not exactly lighting it up either

His scoring rate for those 24 games is not as high as his scoring rate playing the wing last season. You seem to have a real issue when challenged and dealt the facts. It's just a hockey conversation. Make your case with more than just hyperbole and childish banter.

Sure why not. With the plethora of young skilled and talented players. Why do the Flyers need Farabee?
