Have you ever played a sport lol it’s very easy to play freely when the games mean nothing |

Not an effective argument. As a young player trying to break into the NHL. I assure you that those games meant something to Cates and there was pressure. |

Sure why not. With the plethora of young skilled and talented players. Why do the Flyers need Farabee? - MJL
Not sure it's whether or not the FLyers need young skilled players. I think it may be more on the part of Farabee not wanting to play for Torts. Who knows? It's just rumors but Seravalli does seem to be piped in. |

Not an effective argument, totally different pressure than that a team faces trying to maintain or climb a playoff race. |

you always talk about small sample sizes yet when it comes to cates and york seems that goes out the window. |

You tried to claim that there was no pressure in the games that Cates played last season. Now you're trying to argue that it's a different kind of pressure. You made a weak argument again. |

What leverage does Farabee have to force the Flyers to move him? I'd say none. |

You're incorrect that I'm strictly looking at it from offense. I'm looking at the entire position. I clearly posted in the post you replied to that I think he has a higher ceiling as a winger than at center. It's not a greater add if he's scoring in the 30 to low 40's as a 3C then he would be as having potential to be a top 6 winger with better point totals playing in better offensive situations with more talented players while keeping the same strong play away from the puck. By all means, let's pigeon hole a young player as a future 3C. Rather than try and develop him into something more. - MJL
Keep bringing up points. He is in line with frost while handling tougher match ups. I think he would score more against lesser competition. Look what he brought last year when he entered the league. Keep that narrative alive though.

it's unlikely either will be traded at this point maybe JVR will get us a 5th or something - 2Real
Yep, the way JVR is playing I would be happy with a 4th at this point.
At least we clear up 7 million in cap space for Chuck to overpay some other mediocre veteran.

the expectation all along for me was a mid rd pick. Anything better then great. He will be dealt late in the day is my guess if at all

Konecny, Hayes, Farabee, Tippett, JVR, Frost and Allison all score at a higher rate at 5 on 5 then Cates does. Despite getting first line ice time and playing with the top offensive players on the team. Cates ranks 8th on the team in 5 on 5 scoring rate. |

is rate > actual points? What is your opinion on that subject?

The nice thing is we as Flyers fans can hit the snooze button on trade deadline day. The GM is a gutless wonder and we already know Dave Scott has low testicular fortitude.
I predict a mid-round pick for JVR and maybe something for Braun. It's going to be a very very quiet day.
The collaborative approach is working. |

Farabee has never played a full season, and since 2020 his career year so far, his stats have gone down. He has no leverage.
IMO he is playing afraid to get hurt, I know he didn't have a pre-season but we are halfway through the season.
Note sure if I am ready to trade him, but if a team called about him I would listen.

Why would you look at a 16 game sample size in garbage time for a non playoff team? - ClaudeFather
That's the only time in his pro career he's played wing.
I don't get the relevance of it being for a non playoff team. This year's Flyers are also a non playoff team, and the 23-24 Flyers are also very unlikely to make the playoffs. |

The Flyers have been out of realistic playoff contention since the 10 game losing streak in November. |

Many have stated that missing the off season training and most of camp really hurt. By all accounts players use their off season training to get their body in a place that can maintain the rigors of an 82 game season. Especially since once games start it severely limits the amount of actual training you can do. The whole season becomes about trying to maintain.
Farabee missed all that and has been behind the 8 ball all season in that regard. It's best the team writes off this year and just hopes he has fully recovered from his major surgery. Gets a full off season and training camp to train and comes back strong next season.
