So are you suggesting because of his age, Farabee is off limits to trade. For example, Blake in LA has let it he known Brandt and Byfield are off limits under any trade proposal. - Trox88
The Farabee comments become a hell of a lot more intriguing when they are leaked a week before the TDL. Pretty tough to move a young guy like this unless you are getting one hell of a return….ie a Jacob Chychrun. I think of moving a kid like this ending the same way moving out a young Justin Williams. Badly. |

It does not make sense to trade Farabee at this time, to do so would mean the Flyers would be selling him when he is at his lowest value. Its better to let Farabee play out the season, have a full off season to train which he couldn't do this past off-season and see how he plays next season. If after next season he does not show improvement, then it makes sense to entertain the idea of trading him. |

What I fear is happening with this rumor is the Flyers are still looking for the quick fix by trying to pry away a top center from a team. Its pretty clear to me the Flyers are not interested in drafting and developing a top-end center from the top of this year's draft which is lunacy to me since 1. The Flyers really don't have many players other teams want and 2. Why would a team with a top center want to trade that player in the first place unless something is wrong? If Fletcher wanted a quick fix he could have done it last off-season with players like Tkachuk and Gaudreau available and the dufas instead decided to extend Risto and trade for and extend DeAngelo. How would this Flyers team look with Matthew Tkachuk and Johnny Gaudreau playing on their top line? It is what happens when your GM does not have a plan nor the pulse of the league! |

Another rumor I have been hearing is the Flyers are going after Dylan Larkin. Why would Detroit trade Larkin who is their leading goal scorer by 20 points? True he needs to be signed to a new expensive deal but he is a point per game player and 2 time 30 goal scorer and is only 26! The Flyers would have to give up 3 first round picks plus a few good prospects for this one player and then play him $10+M per year for 8 years. Does that really make sense? |

In your premise after a full off season to train and then doesn't show improvement then it makes sense to trade him? His perceived value would be even lower after that then it is now because a lot of promise would be removed. Out of the two scenarios, the best time to trade him would be now or this off season. I'm not advocating to trade him, just pointing out the flaw in your premise. |

It is not realistic to suggest that the Flyers could've obtained both Tkachuk and Gaudreau this past off season.

Larkin is not going to fetch 3 first round picks and a couple of prospects. It's doubtful he would get a 10M cap hit contract either. |

Keith is my age and weighs 300 lbs…so I glad Fletch didn’t grab him. I really don’t understand the allocation of salary that Fletcher has done. Again, maybe the word incompetence shouldn’t be thrown around lightly…but what word could actually describe the job Fletcher has done? |

Larkin is really good young C…not great…..but that contract is an over pay. The draft picks make it utterly stupid if they ever did that. |

Ha ha, the Pens get speed bagged by the Oil tonight on home ice and the fans were chanting "Fire Hextall"! Misery loves company! So, who gets fired first? Hexy or Chuckles? Now it's easy to see why the Flyers have fallen so far. - Phillywhiteout
Interesting read this morning about Hexy….apparently Mike Sullivan the head coach wants Jacob Chychrun. Hextall not willing to move 2 1rst rounders in the future to get him. |

Pens just need to pick a lane. If they are going for it, go for it. Screw the future. If they are not then start offloading folks. They have basically two seasons left with the big three. |

Flyers could and should be doing what the Wild are doing. The more picks you have the better the chance of hitting one. The real money in those deals is close to free honestly. Basically two picks for free for the Wild. - mickel25
That would require cap space |

If the Flyers had cap space, then we as Flyers fans wouldn't be enjoying all this relevancy. |

Their fans need to pick a lane too.
They're gonna all pretend like they weren't euphoric when Hexy squeezed Geno, Rust, Rackell, Carter, Kapanen and Letang under the cap. |

I believe they could still add some LTIR space by LTIR'ing Atkinson or Coots. They could do it. It just requires actual thought and creativity. Hell the Wild did it and they have $14mil in dead cap space. |

The lane has been picked. They resigned the core for another 5 plus years even though they are in their mid 30’s. |

And to think we are still somehow worse than both and our time is not up next , really gives you a perspective on this organization - ClaudeFather I was trying to avoid that depressing thought.

IIRC, the Wild banked a lot of cap space this season.
And Chuck isn't ready to close the door on Coots coming back to save their season |

I really think the thought around the team with it's brain trust is what you talked about the other day. That they have a good team that has been sidetracked by injury. Once they get all the pieces back, with the miracle worker coach they have now, they'll be "right back in it"! |

the banking of space required forethought and a plan. Unfortunately the Flyers have neither.
Chuck 100% wants to leave the door open for Coots to return. |

At this point, they don't have a choice. With the injuries to Ellis, Atkinson and Couturier, there was no way to stay out of LTIR. |
