The NHL released a memo to teams this morning saying that it will "closely scrutinize" trades where injured players are acquired with the intent of keeping them on LTIR until the playoffs.

This could impact the market for players like Nyquist, Monahan, Henrique, etc.

The memo does not cover the Kucherov/Kane scenario:

This is still permitted:
1. Player gets injured, team puts him on LTIR
2. Team acquires players in trade, using the LTIR relief
3. Playoffs begin, player becomes healthy & is activated (roster wouldn't be compliant in season)
