Great night on the scoreboard. Jackets and Sharks even went to overtime. Chicago beating Boston? Montreal winning?
Great night. - therabbi[/img]
Hell yeah!! Best possible outcome |

I didn't post a 3rd. I posted a 2nd and a 3rd. Any trade of Hart is going to set the team back. - MJL
Yeah, I know. IMO, that’s a bad trade. |

You haven't provided any evidence whatsoever that you're more in the know on the Sabres or anything related to hockey than Bill. Your last statement here shows that you lack understanding on what Bill said by insinuating that Bill has said that Hart is so good that no way he could be a stop gap. That is not accurate. Also not accurate to say that his opinion is from a Philly perspective. When you read Bill's work throughout his career. It's clear that he has in-depth knowledge of the entire league. - MJL
Hahahaahahahaha ok. And why exactly would anyone trading for hart be trading for him for the foreseeable future?
Hart has proven to be some stud?
Let’s be real here
He a good young goalie. Probably average as a baseline and slightly better than average ceiling. Maybe even good
That means anyone trading for him won’t be a stopgap?
K
And it’s not a knock on bill at all. I have knowledge on the league. So do you. But I’m pretty sure I don’t have more knowledge than fans that follow hockey in their cities on those teams. I can assure you bill spends absolutely ZERO time bothering with Sabre news unless it directly applied to philly or is some general newsworthy item. I can assure you he does not listen to daily biron radio or Sabres 2 hour show. Unless he hears a clip here and there.
His knowledge is philly based. Mostly anyways.
That’s not a knock on him at all. Yes we all enjoy his league wide knowledge. But let’s not pretend he is some expert. I prefer he concentrate on flyers. He is my go to for philly news and opinion as he is mostly honest and non biased.
You can choose to believe bill that’s your right. But I will laugh when Buffalo makes their move soon enough. |

Wow, I really don't know where to start. How does Briere and Biron being best buddies factor in to Briere having a connection to the Sabres front office? LOL
This is like putting two and two together. Everyone knows the Flyers are likely going to be trading players. Hart is a player that everyone is speculating that the Flyers might trade. Buffalo is a team that could use a good goalie. It's like connecting the dots. Biron is a talking head. Not hard to figure out. Like Briere said, he's been the GM for 48 hours and you think he's already talking to Biron about trading Hart? It's highly unlikely that Briere has talked to a single team about trading Hart, let alone his best bud. It's not high school. LOL - MJL
Because you can’t follow as usual…
I never said briere became gm and THEN oh let me call biron about hart.
You have hard time following.
What did I say.
They are best friends.
This is a fact
Surely they talk hockey.
Have been for decades. Do you get that.
Do you honestly think they haven’t talked about flyers and Sabres? Do you not think briere has talked hart to biron ever since hart got to philly?
The whole hart to buffalo rumblings is because it’s been talked or discussed. Somewhat anyways
Edit… I’m pretty sure they talk about many different players also |

Many on this team is untradeable. Salary and length of contract vs performance makes them Anchor ⚓️ proof. - THE EVIL WITHIN
Spot on! Not sure why people think we can easily sell, sell, sell. It's not that easy. I'm glad Chuckles is gone, but it wasn't realistic to think that he could make a lot of moves at the TDL. |

I saw the Carson Brière wheelchair ♿️ caper. Pretty innocent, it looked like a stupid college prank. - THE EVIL WITHIN
Yea but it's Danny B's son and Briere is a former Flyer. Danny B was gifted a job in the org by the old boys club so that gives people more reason to hate on him. If it was some random kid who did the prank, it is a non-story.

He was trading the wrong players. The problem wasn’t could he trade it was he didn’t try to trade players with value. Probably better to wait until draft anyways when teams have more flexibility. But who knows |

I hear you and would have loved for the a$$clown to get rid of pretty much anyone on the roster. The issue is contracts, etc so whether it was Chuckles or anyone else, we were in a bad spot. Other teams would know we were desperate, so moving someone like Hayes for example, would be almost impossible. |

This is directed at you but to everyone. I think there is conclusion jumping everyday. We have trade everyone on the team! Blow it up! Nobody ever wants to allow things to play out. If the Flyers trip and fall on to a top two pick in the draft, the plan had to change or at minimum rethink the next step. Like if the hockey gods decides it’s the Flyers time, I’m not sure I want to trade Travis Konency or an Ivan Provorov anymore. It’s easy to say trade them now. It’s the lazy answer but we also don’t know what’s coming back. I think we’ve lost in a lot of deals in recent years. - SuperSchennBros
I agree, it’s all about the return and the current circumstance. What is the difference between the wings and devils rebuild, nico and Hughes, where and what drafts they picked high in. Candidly, there is a scenario where the flyers draft 5, get Coots and cam back, keep most of the team, be a playoff bubble team, their stock rises, then they blow it up |

You're right with the tangents that your opinion goes off on, I can't follow, nobody can. You've been trying to justify your previous comments that Briere has connections to the Sabres by referencing his friendship with Biron. Again, Biron is a radio and TV analyst and is not a member of the Sabres hockey ops. Secondly, in terms of Buffalo trading for Hart. I assure you that as the GM, Briere is not going to be talking to Biron about the Flyers internal plans. Most importantly, none of this has nothing to do with trading Hart. It's just more along the same lines as the inside info you claimed to have on Gaudreau. |

I watched both the video of the pre game press conference and read the transcript. Tortorella did not say any of that. He did not criticize Frost nor did he imply or suggest in anyway that Frost was holding Tippet back. The only player that was criticized in that sequence was Tippett.
That "you all" think Frost is having a great season is rhetoric and hyperbole on your part. Nobody that I'm aware of, including myself has used the adjective great to describe Frost as a player or the season he is having. I will say however that Frost is having as good if not a better season than Tippet is. - MJL
I think Frost has had a decent season. I have to admit Frost has certainly proven he can play in the NHL though he has not proven that he can be a top 6 forward on a good team in the NHL. But Frost has done enough to have trade value and I think a team looking to bolster their forward depth with a 3C would be very interested in Frost. I just don't see Frost staying with the Flyers because as I mentioned in the past I just don't think he fits in next year's lineup if in fact Couts is healthy and the Flyers obtain real top-end talent this off-season. Those are two big IFs but if somehow the Flyers were to draft one of the 3 top centers in this draft and Couts is ready to go, Frost is as good as gone. |

You're saying that there is no room for Frost in the lineup if they draft a center. There are 4 centers in a lineup. You've said repeatedly that Flyers are going to trade Hayes. So that would be a center option taken away. Don't your various opinions have to align with each other? Even if the Flyers were fortunate to get one of the top 3 centers in the draft. That does not mean that there is not room for Frost in the lineup. Instead of posting with bias, look at the full situation. |

Remember that JVR and Hayes are likely gone, so if Coots and Cam come back they essentially replace them, not Frost.
Also, it's a bit hasty to assume that the Flyers get a turn-key player in the draft or that they bring Cutter in. The player at #5 probably won't be ready to step in for at least 1-2 seasons.
Also, not a lock that once Coots comes back that Cates will stay in the middle. As good as Torts thinks Cates is, Coots is still one of the best coach security blankets in the league.
And Danny B is also an unknown. Does he cave to Torts like Chuck did? Or is he gonna stick up for Frost and tell Torts to (frank) himself? |

The Flyers have a surplus of young talent. There won't be room for Frost in the lineup next season.

I am afraid you have not been reading this block attentively since he became an interim GM. Perhaps it's not so much Danny as his position in the organization.
People started posting on his incompetence and allegiance to the "golf club" almost immediately without giving him any breathing room or a benefit of the doubt. |

OK, here is my unbiased view of Frost's future on the Flyers.
Torts over the past couple of pressers has mentioned he has been projecting a lineup for next season. I agree of course that Hayes and JVR will not be part of the lineup, but Torts has mentioned that he has projected Couts and Atkinson being part of that lineup. We can all agree Frost is not a 4th line player nor should he be on any team. I think we can also agree that Frost is not a top line center so that leaves the 2C and 3C spots as potential fits for Frost. I think in any lineup Torts is projecting Noah Cates is going to be the 3C, unless he is moved back to wing which is a possibility. Couts will most likely be the 2C given he has missed a year with his surgery, though its possible that he will have to be a 1C if the Flyers cannot obtain a top line center in the off-season or they draft a center that needs a year before he is ready. Desnoyers seems to have the inside track as the 4C on this team.
So I guess there are options for Frost on this team depending on what if anything happens in the off-season. However the one thing that makes me feel that Frost does not have a spot on this team is I seriously doubt Frost's name is on Tort's projected lineup for next season, based solely on what Torts has said and not said about Frost pretty much all season. |

The athletic has the Flyers ranked 14th in organizational prospect pool, the hockey writers have us at 24th.
Plus we destroy prospects all the time. It’s what we do. Wake me up when we’re in the top 5 in order to discuss what the word surplus means. |

So if JVR is gone AND the trades of Hayes and TK occur AND the Flyers draft a NHL-ready center AND both Couturier and Atkinson are back…then next season’s forward lineup could look something like this:
Farabee-Coots-Atkinson
Cates-Frost-Tippett
Laughts-‘23 pick?-Foerster
Deslauriers-Desnoyers-Allison
Laczynski?, Brink

for some reason i think Brendan L. will be resigned. put him on the third line lw.
also, possibility cutter signs at the end of the year. hopefully he stays in college for one more year. but he could also go to the wing on the third line or center. brink is an outside shot, but feel he will be a call up next year. And who knows what we get back if hayes is traded and or tk.
edit- don't forget lycksell |

Coots will be the 1C. The Flyers will NOT be signing a 1C in any shape this coming off season. That would be ridiculous. Drafting one who is ready to play is also not very likely unless they somehow luck into Bedard or Fantilli. Bedard may be a 1C out of the gate, but I dont think Fantilli would be. That is neither here nor there. I also think Gauthier will either play another season in college (more likely) or 1 season in the AHL. Either way he is nowhere near ready to be a 1C. |

Agreed! The more I think about this, the more I think Frost has to be the 2C next season even the Flyers luck into Fantilli or Carlsson. I also agree the Flyers will probably not be trading for or sign an established 1C this off-season, and I think its best for Gauthier to play another year in college, especially if he can get a chance to play with Will Smith who is committed to BC and may very well end up with the Flyers if things stay the way they are today. |

You sure do write a lot of words and have a lot of opinions about Morgan Frost. It might have been less work if you just watched out how first full NHL season played out, instead of jumping in with piping hot takes from the jump. |
