I'd be curious on your take Bill. The team is out of the playoffs. The GM was fired. What kind of thoughts do the players have now? Are they trying to just make it to the end of the season? I presume some are playing for contracts/careers with the young guys so they may be taking it more seriously. It's an honest question and maybe you've got some insight being closer to the team than I'll ever be.

He's saying that he's glad it was empty, so someone didn't get hurt. He is not condoning the action, nor is he dismissing how disgusting the action was in any way. Nor dismissing how it has impacted the victim. He is saying he is glad someone did not get physically hurt.
