for some reason i think Brendan L. will be resigned. put him on the third line lw.
also, possibility cutter signs at the end of the year. hopefully he stays in college for one more year. but he could also go to the wing on the third line or center. brink is an outside shot, but feel he will be a call up next year. And who knows what we get back if hayes is traded and or tk.
edit- don't forget lycksell - Peter Richards
Nah, and doubtful that they trade Laughts.
1 more year of college for Cutter.
Same as you about Brink.
? Maybe an LTIR player in the Hayes deal
Hopefully draft capital for TK
Yeah

Signing Lemieux would fly in the face of doing a rebuild. The Flyers are already stuck with Nick D, though to be honest I like what I have seen from Lemieux so far much more. I think the best Lemieux can hope for is to show the rest of the league what he can do in these last 15 games so he can sign with a team that has a chance to contend next year. Torts is being honest when he states next season is going to be a grind around here also. |

I agree, it’s all about the return and the current circumstance. What is the difference between the wings and devils rebuild, nico and Hughes, where and what drafts they picked high in. Candidly, there is a scenario where the flyers draft 5, get Coots and cam back, keep most of the team, be a playoff bubble team, their stock rises, then they blow it up - wcorvette
I like the Devils situation much more than the Wings but you’re right. There is no reason the Flyers can’t become the Devils in a few years if they don’t get into their own way. Even the Devils have gotten into their own way to some degree in their long journey back to the top. Why did they ever believe Ilya Kovalchuk would be a good player for their system? |

No one was physically hurt and I'm sure the disabled person has been more than made whole financially, so if that's the worst thing he's ever done I'm sure his dad would consider that a win. But the timing of it couldn't have been worse.

Yeah, Hayes bought out and TDA moved would be my guess.

Moving Provorov with two years left is the play. You could get a big return for a "minutes eater" like him from a Hockey Man GM. Then York and Sanheim can play the left side of the top 4. Frankly it's terrible that Saint Ivan refuses to play the right side and is making York play there instead. |

i think it will be sanhiem or provie. tda with one year left may happen, but could see him as a tdl deal.

I don't think Torts would be down with moving Provy. The rest of the org still thinks the world of him too. I think it's more likely they let him play out the string, then move him at the TDL before he hits UFA.
Sanheim... I don't even know what a trade involving him would look like. Eat salary until 2031? Take a terrible contract back in return? Then how do you replace Sanheim? Play TDA in the top-4 again? None of it is ideal. |

The Flyers don’t have the gumption to trade anyone of value. I’m not buying this rebuild talk until I see action. Let’s see what happens from an organizational perspective when the season concludes.
Until then all this speculation about who is going to get moved is silly. I still put the odds of a rebuild fairly low.
To them, rebuild probably means trading Kevin Hayes and maximizing resources the next time a bright shiny object appears. |

I am afraid you have not been reading this block attentively since he became an interim GM. Perhaps it's not so much Danny as his position in the organization.
People started posting on his incompetence and allegiance to the "golf club" almost immediately without giving him any breathing room or a benefit of the doubt. - missingmike
I don't see how expressing concerns about his attachment to the previous regime and his inexperience is hating on him. They're legitimate concerns.

Haha yeah, the only guaranteed thing around these parts is that the Flyers never stick with a single plan for very long.

Agreed! The more I think about this, the more I think Frost has to be the 2C next season even the Flyers luck into Fantilli or Carlsson. I also agree the Flyers will probably not be trading for or sign an established 1C this off-season, and I think its best for Gauthier to play another year in college, especially if he can get a chance to play with Will Smith who is committed to BC and may very well end up with the Flyers if things stay the way they are today. - jd250
How much time has elapsed between when you posted there was no room for Frost and now saying he has to be the 2C?

The only way this can possibly work is if they clean house. The first area of the team that needs to be rebuilt is the hockey ops department and the executives in charge of that. From the top down. I want to hear about permanent "retirements". |

I don't think selling Provy this sumner will be at a low. He is not a #1 dman (neither is Sanheim), but his value will be significant. I believe the Eckholm trade is a good framework what we could see for a Provy return. |

You sure do write a lot of words and have a lot of opinions about Morgan Frost. It might have been less work if you just watched out how first full NHL season played out, instead of jumping in with piping hot takes from the jump. - Feanor
but that takes all the fun out of this forum. There is no such thing as a bad hot take, its the basis of sports talk. |

About 15 minutes ... :-)
Seriously ... there probably is a place for Frost on this team next season. However I stand by my take on Frost, that 1. If Frost is playing in the top 6, the team is not a contending team, and 2. There is good chance Frost is traded in the off-season because I think Torts does not like him as a player based on what Torts has said and not said this season. |

BTW, did anyone watch the LHV Phantoms and Hershey Bears last night on the NHL network. Wow, did the Phantoms look brutal. I was laughing at how much the Phantoms seem to mimic the Flyers when they play a decent NHL team, very little puck possession, hemmed into their own zone and pretty much a shooting gallery on their goalie. |

Agreed, and I think the Flyers players development also needs a major overhaul. I didn't know this but Sam Morin is working in player development! What the hell does Sam Morin know about player development? I can see him as a scout or maybe starting to learn the business side of the game, but how can a player that has been injured his entire career give good advice to a player on the best way to develop? This is an example of just putting an ex-player into a position to give him job. The Flyers have to bring in someone that knows how to develop players, preferably someone from an organization that has a clear track record of developing their own talent. |

Well then I’d take a look. I have a feeling he wants out and I bet the org would be fine with it. I’d be listening to all offers if I’m Danny b however I wouldn’t be shipping out hart just yet unless there’s a trade that blows our Sox off |
