Like I said it makes the flyers dumber. Never ever should’ve brought him up at 21. Yeah for a game here or there sure. Not to be permanent. It kills me people compare hart to other prospects because hart was in nhl. That means nada. It was dumb. A poor excuse to push a narrative actually.
- SMS4016

I don’t think playing Hart at 21 made the Flyers dumb or look dumb. We’ve all enjoyed the high’s of Hart when he’s had them. I just think they ran out of options. Season 2018-19, we played 8 goalies.

Anything is possible. Now you're arguing against yourself. You talked in an earlier post about if they acquire Hart, having to extend him in a couple of years. It is more than just taking on the contract to get Hart. Have to pay the trade cost also. They're going to do that for just a couple of years of Hart and give up a top 15 pick? Possible but unlikely. Which goes back to what Bill posted to which you replied ummm no. If they pay the cost to acquire Hart. It's because they want him as their #1 for the foreseeable future which is more than just two years.
- MJL

Try to follow. “Possible but unlikely “ was in reference to levy busting out.

Try to follow. In reference to buffalo..
They have tons of high end talent. Not only on current roster that I’m sure you’re aware of.

But look at their prospect pool. They’re still like 5 more high end high prospects coming in next few years.
Levy
Rosen
Lavoi
Etc

They have big contracts going into effect next couple years
Thompson
Dahlin
Cozens
Etc

They will have more young players to sign. They will most likely move some players in near future.

They don’t need picks.

It’s a perfect position for a building team to be in

They have said they need a goalie stopgap. They thought comrie/UPL could hold up. It obviously hasn’t. They need a stopgap to take next step. That is obvious.

So there’s 2 paths they can take
1) sign Fa. Obviously that’s not likely. They are gonna be fighting cap. And who’s an Available? For cheaper deal? That didn’t work last few years.

2) move puck/prospect for stopgap. That’s the likely thing they will do. Who’s available? Hart? Gibson? I’m sure there are others.

I think they move at draft to take care of this problem. What’s hart worth? Savio/2nd rounder?
15th overall(whatever their first is) what would philly prefer?

Buffalo has a need. A big need. A goalie. But they don’t need a goalie like Edmonton who has no prospect coming.

But Buffalo has tons of assets. They can easily make a deal with whoever they want. They have tons of trade capital.

You wasted your time typing that and you're telling other what they need to understand and what they should follow while at the same time not understanding yourself one simple point that Bill has already made that you replied ummmmm no to .

Buffalo is not likely going to pay the high cost to acquire Hart just to be a two year stop gap! Anything is possible but unlikely. Maybe if they hire Chuck Fletcher.

Yep, a team like Toronto or maybe Edmonton is a team you might be able to get a first round pick for Hart.

Agree. 100%. Hart will get a 1st rounder if traded. Unless a high end prospect is added to lower the draft pick. Either way buffalo is ideal team to trade with.

Don’t forget briere was a Sabre. Surely that connection is still strong. Biron has been talking hart on buffalo radio and that’s a lot of smoke there. Remember biron/briere really good friends.

It’s not coincidence that hart is being brought up on hockey talk here. Honestly if hart is moved I think Buffalo is where he’s going.

The Sabre connection is irrelevant. Who is around in the Sabres hockey ops that was there when Briere was? Who is the connection with? If Buffalo gives up their 23 1st, which could be a top 15 pick. It's not to be a stop gap for two years.

Bill did not comment or suggest or even address anything about whether Hart should've been or shouldn't have been in the NHL.

Bill also did not post that Hart was a better prospect at 21 than Levy.

Nobody has said that you did say that Levy is a better prospect at that age.

Nobody has said that you said that they'd trade for Hart to be the backup.

By foreseeable future, than means longer than the 2 years left on Hart's contract. It's common sense to think that why would Buffalo pay a high cost for just two years of Hart? If they're paying the cost, it's because they want him as their #1.

Again, here is exactly what Bill posted. Copied and pasted. Tell me where it says that Hart was a better prospect at that age than Levy?

"Levy is not a better prospect at 21 than Hart (who was already in the NHL) was. If they acquire Hart, he is their No. 1 goalie for the foreseeable future."

- MJL

So if levy is NOT a better prospect what is he? What’s the opposite of “not better”?

I said they are about the same.

Why did bill say hart who was in the nhl? What does that reference? Is that proof that hart was better?

Is that safe to assume? Yes.

Is he not suggesting “foreseeblefuture” mean longer than 2 years?

Again it makes sense for buffalo to move assets (that they have absolutely the most in nhl) for a top stopgap goalie (their biggest need) to take the “next step”

The idea that they wouldn’t give up a first for stopgap hart paying “that price” is ridiculous.

It was dumb. It definitely hampered his development at the time. And for what? Bringing players up too young when not fully ready can only hurt.

does it ultimately change harts career? Time will tell. But they definitely are dumb for the move. Just another factor in firing gm to bias for action that makes them look dumb.

It's a factor and it's referencing exactly what he said. That Levy is not a better prospect at that age than Hart was.

He did not say that Hart was better at that age.

Yes he is. Which is why he said if they trade for Hart, it's to be their #1. Not as a stop gap.

It does not make sense for Buffalo to move the high level assets it would take to acquire Hart as a stopgap. It is ridiculous to ignore that simple common sense. They might do anything but it would not be a smart move if they don't intend to extend Hart.

Lmmfao. I mean this as no offense to you or bill but if you believe that you live in la la land.

Newsflash I live in buffalo.

Adams has stated that that’s exactly what they want. A stopgap.

He’s stated the team will NOT block levy’s path.

This isn’t my opinion.

This is what the Sabres organization has come out and said.

So you saying buffalo would not pay the high cost to acquire hart to not be the future is laughable.

Again no offense but you and bill are spewing a believe based on opinion.

Everything Buffalo has SAID and DONE has been consistent.

So what’s more credible ?
1) what buffalo has said and done …

OR

2) some flyers fans post and a flyers blogger OPINION?

I know, the reason I said what I said is because people who brush this off as a non issue are the reason things like this continue to happen.

Buy her a new chair and forget about it? It’s the lack of compassion in the moment that needs to be punished. Imagine if you require someone to carry you up and down stairs and need a wheelchair to get around and come out of the bathroom while on a night out with friends(which is already no convenient endeavor) only to find your wheelchair in pieces at the bottom of the stairs because some entitled adult was trying to impress some teenagers. He should be educated not defended.

Oh so bill is now saying levy is same prospect level as hart? Ok so why would buffalo in 2 years pay hart his big contract instead of going with cheaper player. Especially if they are roughly the same? Makes sense. Oh because 2 years prior they gave up an asset? That makes ZERO SENSE.

Like I said if levy bust out then yes. If not there no chance they’d pay hart

If you can get a 2nd and a 3rd from a non playoff team like Buffalo. Have to consider that. You may be able to get a late 1st from a playoff team that needs a goaltender but that is a narrow fit.
- MJL

Hard no from me. Hart was a 2nd round draft pick himself, first goalie off the board. At 24 and still an RFA after his deal, including 7 years of development and the experience he already has as an NHL goalie, that is worth more than a 3rd. That’s a bad trade. It sets the team back. There is a tiny NHL sample with Ersson so far. Considering the development time on picks taken there, the return isn’t enough to take the risk IMO.

So Levy is a lock starting goalie in the NHL in two seasons? The Sabres already know that? You would think they would win more games with being able to predict the future and all.

The only way I can see that even as a possibility is if hart took a very short term deal. He’s still a rfa at end of this deal.

Maybe if he took a 2/3 year deal in the 5/6 mil range. Maybe. But would he? Could a buffalo fit that in cap? Idk I guess maybe.

Even then you run into levy problem. Does it hold him back?

Seeing a Sabres fan in a Flyers thread bragging about the Sabres 87-year rebuild and acting as if the Sabres wouldn't do something stupid like pay too much money to one player who is blocking a potentially comparable but cheaper player is the hilarity I needed today. Cheers!

Who is in hockey ops that was there when briere was?

I know you don’t have any credible radio in Philly regarding hockey. But here in Buffalo we do. Like I said biron and others been talking hart here. Does biron have ties to briere? Philly? I think so.

I’ll also add briere still comes to buffalo.
Buffalo fo people do plenty of radio interviews here. From adams on down.

Their position is well known.

Does it happen hart to buffalo? Idk. Even Sabres blogger on hb talking about possible hart trade.

I think it’s safe to say if briere wants Buffalo to know hart is available and he’s looking for something from buffalo he could easily get that info out on the down low back channels.

Honestly I think levy is on par with hart. I think it was safe to assume hart would at least be a starting goalie in nhl back when he was prospect.

So yeah yeah safe to assume levy will be a starter.

As with anything how good is the question.

Is it safe proof? No. Nothing is.

The Oilers are going to squeak into the playoffs again this season and might even win a playoff round, but most likely will have another disappointing season given they have 4 players this season that are scoring over a 1 point per game. Serious question; would the Oilers entertain trading Draisaitl this off season to get better defensively? If so, what would the Flyers have to trade the Oilers to get him? Would Hart, Provey and their 1st round pick get it done? If so, would you do it?

Another serious question; if the Flyers end up picking 5th in this year's draft, should the Flyers try to trade up to the 2nd spot to land Fantilli? I think they should. If you would also, what would you have to trade the team holding the 2nd pick to make this happen?
