First
I would be very hesitant to buyout or trade Cambell as bad as he has been. Sometimes it takes a year for any player to find their groove in a new city and we have too much tied in him. Plus, he can be, and has been, a good goalie in the past. It would suck if he the Oilers moved him or bought him out and he goes on to be the goalie most predicted he would be.
Getting a sure bet to be a better #1a/b is also not something that can be guaranteed. Move on from Campbell and he does great with another team and then bring in someone else who also sucks...
I think we are stuck with Campbell for at least another year and we just have to pray he can find his game.
Ceci the new whipping boy in Edmonton. Has he been great? No. As good as last year, no. Does he face high quality of competition... yes. Is he better than many are proclaiming, yes. Replacing Ceci at his price point is very difficult even with a "down" year from him.
I am surprised Broberg is doing as well as he is and moving Kulak, who also imo has been unfairly slagged, may make sense.
In the end tho you know we have to move on from Yams. I like the player and when he finishes, he is great. Solid PKer as well, good on the forecheck... But often gets beat up in the d zone for goals against. Isnt fast enough, big enough, and just doesnt finish well enough for the opportunities he gets either.
If not Yama than it is Foegele who is finally having success with the Oilers.
I really hope the Oilers get some more cap relief via the cap going up more than anticipated. Its hard to imagine this team getting any better on paper with the subtractions that are happening due to the cap.
I keep Janmark, Kostin, Mcleod, and Bouchard on this team as priorities with the unfortunate sacrifices being Yama and maybe Kulak. |

I think the owners are pushing hard for a bigger increase in the cap so Bettman will negotiate a 3-4 million increase with the Players association. I do agree that Yams is the likely player gone. He is one major hit to the head that will end his career so maybe playing on team where does not get hit as much is beneficial to him also. Or possibly back to Seattle. That's where he has his best games. Maybe flip Yams for Soucy then you can look at trading Ceci on the right side. |

I hope no one is stupid enough to pay you to write about hockey when you make stupid comments like buying Campbell out. I think you’d have to have zero clue about anything to think buying him out is a good solution in anyway. |

Because if his play is what it is going to be, you can't pay 5 mil per for an under-performing back-up? Have to give him at least another year though, to figure out what he is. |

Holland has screwed himself with his previous contracts. How do you get McLeod, Kostin, or even Janmark or Bjugstad signed to reasonable deals in the off-season after handing 2.7 to 3.1 mil AAV contracts to Foegele/Poolparty/Yammer in previous seasons? |

As bad as Campbell's been this year I don't see the Oil buying him out before giving him a second season to see if he bounces back.
If next season isn't markedly better, buyout definitely possible. |

Play out the Skinner and Campbell duo and see what develops. Buying out Campbell is not the solution.
Hopefully, Skinner can continue doing well. All it takes is one of the goalies to pop off in order for a successful run to commence. |

Oil looked like trash in the first period. Better pick that up down the stretch here vs better clubs. |

Yep. Wouldn't trust him to start a pee-wee game right now.
