All good and fully agree "Bo Knows Mirrors and loves them more than anyone".

I played baseball my whole life, actual baseball until I was 19 and so maybe it's why I feel so strongly about the base coaches job and the runner relying on them. I was always taught/coached that as a runner you are very rarely looking to see where the ball is and if you should be running or not, you should be looking at the base coach to tell you because it's their job.

.
.
.

Anyhow that was a great home opener, I wish I had been there. I was downtown yesterday for work and there was a buzz in the air and lost of people wandering around in Jays gear - fun times and such a nice change from the pandemic years.

I went with some friends. We were in right field on the first base line. Aside from not being as impressed by the changes as I thought I would - really it's not that stark of a contrast from last year - the atmosphere was good and the place was _packed_. They gave out those RFID LED wrist bands that you'll typically see at concerts - and it was a cool effect at times, although there were very few opportunities with the lighting for it to be noticeably effective.

It was an excellent game to be at - the Kiermaier catch, the homers - and my friend's nephew (Zach Pop) pitched well, too.

I was at the Jays game. I saw a few tweets from Omar, but haven't even watched the Game in 10, yet.

I saw the final shots were basically 2:1, and that penalties were 8-6 in favour of Tampa.

It gives the impression that our PK was excellent, Woll was excellent, but overall we were out played and we also got reffed again.

Is that a fair assessment of the game?

He did well, it was not a bad add considering Kadri was an idiot

Outplayed? Yeah TB pushed the play but what was noticeable is the leafs did not back down physically.

Schenn was a beast, Perrys antics were denied, they pissed off Kucherov enough to take a unsportsmanlike.

The Leafs played a hard fought game and even though Woll was the star, it was hard fought and the Leafs deserved the W for their efforts.

Knies was good, he steals the puck like Matthews in the O zone.

McCabe was a (frank)ing all star. Had 2 huge blocks and played the final 3 mins of the game.

David Ayres may have gone down as the EBUG that beat this team, but he also saved them from making more mistakes. That game against Carolina on February 22, 2020 happened two days before the trade deadline. Dubas and Shanahan both said afterwards that watching this team's lacklustre performance against the Canes showed them that they couldn't fix what was broken at the TDL and they weren't giving up assets in a pointless pursuit.

The trade itself may not have been a bad idea for some teams, but the acquisition of Tyson Barrie for _this_ team was a massive misstep, and as much as I do like what Dubas has done, this is the one that I think is probably his biggest mistake.

Nice win last night without M & M and Gio, and playing the backup in an away game.

Leafs in 6.

I noticed those led lights on tv during the music intro, they seemed to be synced up. Also noticed them a few times throughout the game.

I will make my prediction now

Leafs in 5...for real, Tampa is banged up, tired, no momentum going in and it's time the Leafs flex their muscles in the first round

The were used well during the pregame ceremonies (Blue / White or Red for Jays' stuff, HoF introductions for McGriff, recognition of the Jays' award winners from last year; Red for the anthems (which was my least favourite part of the night, including traffic!), and then they would flash after homeruns - but it was less noticeable because the park lighting is so bright - and they went off again with the blue & white when the game was done.

My first experience with them was when we took our kids to see Shawn Mendes at the ACC - and I was pretty impressed with how they knew your section number to create stadium lighting effects. It's a very clever and relatively simple idea that has probably made someone very wealthy.
