Just keep in mind one team was playing to win while the other was playing to not get anybody hurt or let bad habits creep in. That was a "play safe and see if we catch a bounce" game for the Leafs. Besides, Florida may have had more time in the offensive zone, but Leafs seemed to have the better chances until the last 10 minutes and OT (not to mention 3 posts for Rielly alone in the first period).

The leafs only had 2 shots in OT before the goal.

The leafs lost every faceoff in OT as well.

Samsonov had 4 saves in just over 4mins in OT.

The leafs were only playing primary guys in OT.

They were not playing backed up in that period while still getting outplayed. I’m hoping the laid back game (the part I 100% agree with you about) was the reason why they were outplayed in OT.

Lightning gave up an entire draft's worth of picks for a guy who is injured and won't be available before they are eliminated in the playoffs.
