Was the Leafs best centre vs Boston though.

That's because all the other Leafs caught nasty colds, but Pleks kept warm with his turtleneck.

You ever make me think of Rolie Polie Ollie again, and I will punch you in the throat.

You make me think of Little Bear, and I'll punch you right in the ball bag.

You've been warned.

All Leafs players should start game 1 of the playoffs wearing turtlenecks just to be safe

Outplayed? Yeah TB pushed the play but what was noticeable is the leafs did not back down physically.

Schenn was a beast, Perrys antics were denied, they pissed off Kucherov enough to take a unsportsmanlike.

The Leafs played a hard fought game and even though Woll was the star, it was hard fought and the Leafs deserved the W for their efforts.

Knies was good, he steals the puck like Matthews in the O zone.

McCabe was a (frank)ing all star. Had 2 huge blocks and played the final 3 mins of the game.

- Santo_44

It's pretty amazing that TBL went 0/8 on the PP (24 shots!) last night.

You guys really don't want to hear Edmonton fan's take on our win last night. My blood pressure rose to some unheard levels but I thought it wasn't worth it and cracked a beer. Told you, I'm gonna be the biggest bumhole in this city when we go further. 20 (frank)ing years of abuse now it's my turn to be the blue and white bully.

Habs won't sniff the playoffs for a couple more years, I am fine with that, takes time to rebuild, Leafs should know this

5 each for fighting? The Ross Colton soccer faking was over the top. Good game by Woll and Nylander, despite brutal officiating. Perry flailing away at Bunting after the linesmen were involved took a special level of incompetence for the zebras to overlook.

- winsix

Stamkos and Cooper both complaining about the officiating after the game.

They went 0-8 on the power play and are crying about it. Pathetic.

It was from last week when we lost power and the entire city shutdown...but the camera at Baseline and Merivale caught me sliding through at 7:36am with nobody on the (frank)ing road as it went red because if I stopped, I would be in the middle of the road and not able to start again. Sounds like you got more than an argument. Not sure what they're like out in your neck of the woods, though. They'd probably let it slide here in Toronto. Especially since this is the city that called in outside assistance back in the day for snow removal.

Ignore that Holl shouldn't skate right at the Tampa guy - just stay safely behind the net - but where's the rest of the team? How does Tampa have 2 forecheckers on Holl and he has no pass options? I realize we were probably changing, but you need to make sure you're leaving the last man back with outlet options.

I'd love to hear it, so that I can pose the following questions:

Why the hell do you care? Why were you even watching it? I'm a die-hard, and I didn't watch it.

The Leafs didn't care.

The Bolts didn't care.

The game was absolutely meaningless.

The Leafs dressed a mannequin as their backup goalie.

A win, loss or tie has no effect on any team, living or dead.

How the frank could you possibly care about a meaningless Leafs game?

And how long have you had that mullet?

All good and fully agree "Bo Knows Mirrors and loves them more than anyone".

I played baseball my whole life, actual baseball until I was 19 and so maybe it's why I feel so strongly about the base coaches job and the runner relying on them. I was always taught/coached that as a runner you are very rarely looking to see where the ball is and if you should be running or not, you should be looking at the base coach to tell you because it's their job.

The reasoning given to me (which kinda' makes sense) is coming down the line out of the box the base coach is in your line of sight so you don't really have to 'look around' which can slow you down or cause you to take a less direct path to the next base / not cut the corner sharp enough and arc too far towards the outfield.

Same for rounding 2nd - you pick up the 3rd base coach and rely on them to tell you to stay or come to 3rd, stand up or slide or round the bag and head home.

All that being said the base coach needs to be good at knowing players arms and making reads and if Rivera sucks at 1 or both those things they need to move him off the 3rd base coaching spot for sure.

When I played running through a stop sign or not dropping a bunt when told to = riding the pine!

I guess it's a Jays issue to address or not address at all as they see fit but I'll be pissed at any player who runs through the stop sign and gets cut down at the plate always.

Last night is a good example of why a GOOD 3rd base coach is critical - Bo can't be running to 3rd and look back to see if that fielder played the ball clean or even if it got to him in a hurry (at least not effectively as you want him looking where he is running).

Anyhow that was a great home opener, I wish I had been there. I was downtown yesterday for work and there was a buzz in the air and lost of people wandering around in Jays gear - fun times and such a nice change from the pandemic years.

I'm in the same boat as you. I was also a Baseball guy but I stopped at around 16 when I fell in love with Hockey (my grandpa was pissed at me for a very long time for not sticking with Baseball ). And I fully understand that from a ball players point of view. I still see it as these guys have no faith in him, at all. Which is why I'm shocked that they kept him on when most players can't/don't trust his judgement (the new guys do, though. Since they have no reason not to so far).

I honestly think it's similar to Montoyo. Rivera seems like a really good dude and they don't want to poopcan him. They only finally fired Montoyo when it got well passed the point that they HAD to (I personally would've done it a looong time before they did). The good news for Rivera is that he's not a manager, so rearranging him in the clubhouse could easily be an option.

Yeah, home opener was awesome. Kinda scared that the new dimensions are gonna be bad for half of our rotation, though.
