The mismanagement of a player like Walker Duehr, is a perfect example of the whole messed up decision making process, of the Flames "brain trust".

It takes three quarters of a season to figure out that a kid who is physical, skates like the wind, and has a scoring touch, has the credentials to play in the NHL.

And when he gets his shot, he is relegated to the fourth line where he STILL puts up. great numbers, and shows he has a knack for scoring big goals.

Treliving had 9 years...time to move on.

But do it right. Clean the slate and eat the Sutter contract.

Give the new G.M. the chance to hire a new and more progressive coach of his choosing.

You have to wonder how much this affected decision making.

Treliving, prompted by justified fan pressure, brings up Matt Phillips, only to have Sutter not only give him very limited ice time, but makes quips about his size.

In all those lost overtime and shootout points, it hurts to think how big a difference a skilled player like Phillips could have made.

Yes Darryl...Matt is small but so was Johnny. And one thing for sure the kid deserved a better shot than you gave him.

I love it. Far cry from what you were saying on the Canucks thread after the Tkachuk trade and signing Kadri in the summer.

I believe one of the huge issues the team had was not having a strong captain that could stand up to Sutter. It's pretty defeating when your boss is an asshat and no one puts him in his place.

Ownership have backed themself into a corner. Sure, they could make the playoffs next year, but half of their roster will walk due to wanting to play elsewhere.

Calgary's ownership is not Coyetes level bad, but it is pretty bad.

Coyotes have owners this year? Or is it being debated again? Haven't they had like 6 different ownership groups in their 30ish year existance? Joke of a franchise the Garry keeps trying to make work. Absolutely no reason they ever should have existed over the Jets.
