Agreed. Let's hope whoever gets hired has the autonomy to decide on the direction of the franchise.

Mitch Love wins AHL coach of the year.

Thankfully Edwards didn't promote Sutter to GM. This team is handcuffed for the next year anyway but next TDL will be really interesting.

Flames have groomed Conroy for several years, I’m guess they are just doing their due diligence looking at others. I’d like to see Conroy eased into the role this year, give him a bigger job description and see how he handles it.
@ Trevor, I agree they need to decide the direction of the team, can’t keep handing out retirement packages. Lindholm would bring a huge return to kickstart a rebuild.
@ Wreckage. Mitch Love should be coaching the Flames next year, he’d bring stability to the dressing room. Iginla is coaching u15 at a hockey academy in Kelowna, that’s a higher level than Montreals head coach MSL.

Thankfully Edwards didn't promote Sutter to GM. This team is handcuffed for the next year anyway but next TDL will be really interesting.

The expiring contracts could really be a boost for the Flames rebuild. Problem is we’re probably a bubble team heading in the wrong direction.

The mismanagement of a player like Walker Duehr, is a perfect example of the whole messed up decision making process, of the Flames "brain trust".

It takes three quarters of a season to figure out that a kid who is physical, skates like the wind, and has a scoring touch, has the credentials to play in the NHL.

And when he gets his shot, he is relegated to the fourth line where he STILL puts up. great numbers, and shows he has a knack for scoring big goals.

Treliving had 9 years...time to move on.

But do it right. Clean the slate and eat the Sutter contract.

Give the new G.M. the chance to hire a new and more progressive coach of his choosing.

It’s wild. The organization invests so much money, time and effort into scouting and player development while surely losing money running an AHL affiliate. All for the development pipeline to have a sock jammed in at the very end of the line by a four million dollar annual value coaching contract.

Bean said there's no interest in a rebuild. He also mentioned that for the search for a GM, the team needs a progressive thinker, something different, some sharp person that's on the cusp of getting his chance. It seems that the candidate will probably come from outside.
