I wouldn't. I understand the thought process but it's not like we've thrived in drafting in that 7-11 pick range. I just think Laf still has a higher ceiling than someone who would be picked in that spot. I could just be biased though. For better or worse I just think this organization would rather him wither here than take a discount for him.
To be fair, I think it's more likely they do that than trade Laf for Boeser which has been rumored too. I think all of this speculation with Vancouver comes from Castonguay (Laf's former agent) being the asst. GM there. Of course they are interested I just don't know that the rangers are interested in moving him.
I've said it before as have others here but with the rangers cap situation it's really hard to justify trading a cheap asset with the ceiling that Laf has (this can be argued) for either an expensive roster player or a draft pick that I think not many of us have confidence they will get right |

I am admittedly a Rangers optimist and sometimes to a fault, but it's my team and I try to see the best to justify the amount of time I spend watching them/thinking about them.
Tonight I was thinking as I've been uninspired like the rest of you with the coaching search. If they hire Lavs lets say, I think a bunch of us might look at that as a lateral move. Hynes I agree would be a mistake. I've seen a lot of people saying "if we're hiring Lavs why even fire GG?" Truthfully there aren't many coaching candidates out there to get overly excited about.
If GG wasn't fired, what do we think the temperature here would be? After the effort they showed, and the facts that we've all rehashed a million times here about the difficulty of changing our core given their contracts, did Drury have any option but to fire him and hope for the best with someone else?
You can argue that drury put himself in this situation with other moves he made, but looking at this in a vacuum, outside of hiring hynes I think whatever the decision is is one that was necessary just to appease the fans. Maybe that's the wrong way of running a team but if GG wasn't fired I think we'd be equally as pissed |

I wouldn’t hate Lavy but it would be hard to be excited for next season with that hire. I am sure he would be fine though. But his teams have really underachieved the last half decade. Can he still get a team over the hump is the question
Hynes would piss me off and make me hate this franchise for a bit lol |

I think Zibanejad, Panarin, Fox, Kreider and Shesterkin are all still gonna be great players next regular season whether its Hynes or Laviolette or anyone else
Im not even worried about making the playoffs, I'd just prefer Lav over Hynes because Hynes has never won a single thing

yeah, and then if the problem is that Panarin and company are too soft for the playoffs, doesn't really matter getting this nuts over every coaching candidate unless they change the players somehow

1. Drury isn't making that move, because it's too smart for him.
2. Laf isn't worth the 11th overall pick.

I think you are wrong, Laf is worth more than the 11th pick. Picks are a crap shoot. |
