A few comments:

Gallant does have a track record that has him out after 2-3 years. Why is that? He seems fiery behind the bench and seems to say the right things to the media, however his actions don't relay the same message. He did not hold enough accountable that should have been. Too many did not give 100% every night and that is not acceptable. Sit someone for a game or two to send a message. I fell Laf was the only one given that message. What did Gallant do prior to Trouba's helmet toss when the team was playing half-heartedly? I saw nothing. He did not push his players enough because he relied on THEM to make it happen. Sometimes a young team needs more push from the head coach. Maybe that was the voice afterwards that led to his dismissal.

I wonder how much Drury is being instructed by Dolan instead of allowing him to do what he thinks is best. I am sure there was pressure from Dolan for the win-now mentality, which led to the moves Drury has made. This team is not far off. They ALL need to be physical, not just 3-4 players. They need more of a presence in front of the net and when on the PP, shoot more frequently. Hopefully, Laviolette will be on who can assist the young guys that will have them step up, while addressing the other areas of concerns. Yes, he has only won one cup, but so has Trotz. There will be pressure for sure on both the GM and coach this season.

We can only move forward, and if it means a trade needs to happen where even a fan favorite may need to go, as it won't be the first time and as long as it makes sense, then do it. The fans expect the best product to be on the ice, but as long as it does not cost the future either.

Somehow I missed the fact that Lav’s contract was up in Washington and that he took himself out of the conversation for being rehired. Feel like it was framed that he was let go. Didn’t seem like he was there for 3 seasons either.

Still not jumping up and down about the hire, but he’s likely a guy who could be close to walking away from coaching and saw something in this team that made him excited. If he can push the right buttons, and Drury can work some magic, the Rangers are still a top 10 contender. It’s all about getting hot at the right time.

So hear me out. Maybe part of the delay was that they want to have another coach like Knob come in and learn some stuff under Lavy. Basically having the heir apparent ready to go (kinda like Quinn/Ruff) so that we can get the coach we actually want more experience but make Lavy the scapegoat should it go south.

It's kinda funny that pre-COVID the knock on the rangers was they never had enough high end talent to compete. Zucc led the team in points every year with like 50 and we never seemed to have the skill to get over the hump.

Today you read through these comments and the problem is we have too much skill.
