I wish they could move coots but I doubt anyone would be willing to take him after he just missed a year.
- Sir_Robot_Farts

The Couturier situation is similar to Tarasenko. He has to stay healthy and still play at a high level before you can think of moving him.

Assuming Atkinson and Coots are ready to go, there aren’t many veterans on the team. If TK and Laughts are traded for draft assets, then these kids will still need some mentors. Do the Flyers look to sign a veteran cheap FA or two just to add some mentorship? Do you look to a Lucic, Hornqvist, Stasney type to sign to be the 13th O to help out?
- mikeyo27

I am not really worried if they have injuries or trade players. I am sure they would probably prefer a vet or two if they are able to make additional moves. There are always vets available in FA.

I mean. Gotta field some type of roster. Coots seems like a decent example to have around for the prospects and the culture. Not a rah rah guy but that’s what we have Nicky D for

flyers culture is losing. Of which ex selke has been a big part of. Move him at the first chance, if it ever comes about.

He’s not likely moveable until he comes back healthy, stays healthy, and produces numbers worth of his contract. I just don’t see it happening unless you take a contract just as bad back.
- hereticpride

Yeah that and his contract ends when he is 37 years old.

Don’t care about the return or the retained cap. (We shouldn’t be spending to the cap any time soon anyway) This is a big win for the tanking crowd. No more Hayes putting up meaningless numbers on a team headed nowhere. This is how you bottom out.

Did anyone really want Hayes to stay at over 7 mill?

Does anyone really want TDA to stay at 5 mill?

Confused as to why Torts is blamed for simply pointing out what we already know. We dont want the same players Torts does not want. Torts haters are so conflicted by this as he is right and they agree w him, but can’t bring themselves to admit it.

And plez stop with this nonsense - that the coach reduced Hayes or TDAs value. These other gms are pretty smart and know a heck of a lot more about these players then those on this board.

The Hayes and TDA benchings did not impract their value. You would have to be lost in a time warp to not know Hayes plays about every 3rd shift, is ok w losing and has 0 interest in attention to detail when managing the puck. Also, TDA is not getting along with (fill the blank).. this is not new information to anyone, anywhere paying attention.

Torts was right about the rebuild from the jump and he is correct about TDA n Hayes. Who actually disagrees with him?

You don’t like him cause you think he is Old..? Beside the fact that’s kinda offensive it’s just ignorant. You don’t like him, fine.

But you can’t argue he has been spot on about his assessment of Comcast, The Flyers Org and most of our players thus far.

I don’t like scratching players in front of grandmom just to prove a point, but for now he is the least of the flyers concerns.

Also don’t forget he walked into the Comcast Center from day one and said this team needs to rebuild. He said it from Day 1.

I don’t understand the desire of some to move Konecny. He still only 26 and entering his prime…he shouldn’t be excluded from the teams plans going forward.

in bold is probably most of team!!

I have zero problem keeping both. Flyers not going anywhere anytime soon. Also don't have any issue moving them. Just don't like how they went about tit as it has the coaches prints all over it.

What I want to see, especially on the D end, will they sign any vets or trade for D and not give the prospects like Zamula Attard Andrae and Ginning a shot. Guess you can throw the prospect they got from the kings as well.

Assume they trade Tony D. Will they actually let those 5 above battle it out for 1 or 2 posts? I have my reservations.

They also freed up $3.5mil in cap space that will hopefully be used to gain additional assets.

yes he should unless you want another 8 year deal for 8 per when he will be on the other side of his prime.

I would like to see him traded for fair value but I don't think the GM will be handing out those contracts like his predecessor.

I agree on TK. It doesn't have to be right now but they should probably move on from him. Unless he is willing to agree to a 5 year extension for some crazy reason.

I’d rather see him shopped for an overpayment than see him struggle here with a bad roster for the next few years.

If they make him available there has to be some type of bidding war created.

then why would TK re-sign if not getting max term?
