Are you sure? Jonesy thinks theyā€™re going to be right back in it before year 3.

Astonishing return for PLD - does anyone believe this is a good trade?
- Thehawk67

I guess they think they need three top centers to compete in the West.

Did anyone really want Hayes to stay at over 7 mill?

Does anyone really want TDA to stay at 5 mill?

Confused as to why Torts is blamed for simply pointing out what we already know. We dont want the same players Torts does not want. Torts haters are so conflicted by this as he is right and they agree w him, but canā€™t bring themselves to admit it.

And plez stop with this nonsense - that the coach reduced Hayes or TDAs value. These other gms are pretty smart and know a heck of a lot more about these players then those on this board.

The Hayes and TDA benchings did not impract their value. You would have to be lost in a time warp to not know Hayes plays about every 3rd shift, is ok w losing and has 0 interest in attention to detail when managing the puck. Also, TDA is not getting along with (fill the blank).. this is not new information to anyone, anywhere paying attention.

Torts was right about the rebuild from the jump and he is correct about TDA n Hayes. Who actually disagrees with him?

You donā€™t like him cause you think he is Old..? Beside the fact thatā€™s kinda offensive itā€™s just ignorant. You donā€™t like him, fine.

But you canā€™t argue he has been spot on about his assessment of Comcast, The Flyers Org and most of our players thus far.

I donā€™t like scratching players in front of grandmom just to prove a point, but for now he is the least of the flyers concerns.

Also donā€™t forget he walked into the Comcast Center from day one and said this team needs to rebuild. He said it from Day 1.

Below is what Bill Meltzer had to say on Twitter. Is he ignorant or talking nonsense? So what was it that devalued Hayes as a player? Was it putting up the second highest point total of his career? Was it his selection to the All Star team? Speaking of ignorance. Nobody has said that Tortorella is not a good coach because he is old. I don't care if he was 85. It's because the game has past him by and his methods and strategy are obsolete. Tortorella is a huge concern moving forward in my opinion but hey, I'm just one of the ignorant.

"In a vacuum, the Hayes deal is brutal. But he was a devalued player who clearly HAD to be moved -- and had a big cap hit and 3 yrs of term left. So any trade was going to be unfavorable taken in its own right. At least no assets had to be included"

How is that harsh? He pretty much put the blame on Hayes and his contract and said it could've been worse. Taken as a whole his tweet levels no criticism at the team.

to paraphrase "I know it looks bad but it wasn't really because of x and y and it could've been much worse so be glad with what the Flyers got".

- Flyers_01

I don't think he's putting the blame on Hayes there.

And they just got another player with a M-NTC to add to their list of 9 players with NTC/M-NTC. Amazing.
- atibus

That depends. Was St. Louis on his no trade list? If it was then he had to agree to waive and the player can make it part of the deal that his trad clause stays intact. However technically according to the CBA. When a player is traded, his trade or movement clauses are voided.

Blackwood for a 6th

I remember hearing that Blackwood was like 5x better than Hart, guess that means Hart could net us a 7th!

Today is a perfect illustration of what Tortorellaā€™s job is the next three years. This team is going to suck bad while it rebuilds. Tortorella is here to take all the hate while Briere builds in the background. Surprising more fans canā€™t see it.

I guess all of the Habs fans that thought his acquisition was in the bag are disappointed. I guess Hughes wouldn't cough up the goods.

Was it a bad season? It was his second highest career total.
