This guys has a point, 3.55m for a 50 point player is very good. I hate this trade and I hate the reported trade for DeAngelo. I am already starting to sour on the new leadership team. Including the allowance of Torts to dictate GM decisions. I don’t care if no one else offered more. Keep them and play them!

so we don't think the Johanson trade with 4 mil cap hit, 50% retained, had an effect on the Hayes trader? 1 less year than Hayes, but more dollars, no real return, not that a 6th is going to be. Hayes better PPG this season, played more games. I dont recall the Preds hammering Johanson but his value was similar to Hayes.
All that can be dabated, counter points, other examples but it seems to be we would be splitting hairs, Hayes is gone and there was not that much better of a deal not matter what. |

What did JvR get? Hayes? Ghost? Quite the coincidence that the Flyers have had so much issues with "no value" players.
I would think the Flyers have someone smart to think ahead and ask themselves when signing/re-signing a player...can we move them later if we have to?
Sometimes not signing someone is a better option. I am still thankful Gaudreau was never signed, I like him, but would of been terrible. - Glak18
The Flyers have never though beyond next week, ever. We lucked out on JG because the clown in charge had no cap space to further anchor us. Signing any player to a large contract tha extends into mid 30's should be avoided at all costs. There are exceptions but they almost always end in disaster. |

The nice thing about a re-build is you should get young and healthy not old and breaking down….now sometimes you end up with a Nolan Patrick, but the runway is a lot longer at 21 then 31 to get yourself back to health. At this point I’m sure they are looking to rid themselves of those types of contracts. |

I completely disagree. If you're a contending team and you need a piece, signing the right player to a large contract extending into the mid 30's is something that not only should be done, but needs to be done. |

Then you are not going to like the rebuild much…that’s the market. They are creating space for youth and trying to grab assets along the way. Cap space is an asset. |

Hextall was great at playing bad players trying to up their trade value. It’s better to rip the bandaid off instead of trying to squeeze out a 3rd round pick in a trade.

wtf you talking about?
That's bullpoop and you know it. Plenty of dmen who weren't the top scorer have won in recent years who could do more than those 3 skills. It's just that the media members who vote are (frank)ing idiots. - Aaron_85

So Deangelo (50% retained) to Carolina for Rizzo? I'm assuming that's the deal. - Glak18

Like Bill Meltzer said, in a vacuum strictly hockey wise. The trade is a disaster. The world doesn't live in a vacuum though and the Flyers were always going to take it on the chin somewhat for Hayes. With all of the variables present. Briere limited the damage about as best as he could. - MJL
$11M in dead cap space over 3 years ... ouch! I guess it's a bit better than a buy-out. |

Fantilli has 1st line center ability- usually the league views 1st line center above 1st line winger ability. I used the term "bold" because it goes against convential thinking. From an entertainment standpoint, it would turn the draft on its ear quickly and could lead to prospects like a Smith or even Carlsson fall to 7. That would fine too. - Trox88
Some scouts and execs project Fantilli more as a winger in the NHL. Same with Bedard. Same with Carlsson.
I personally wouldn't use forward position to split hairs at the top of the draft this year. And especially when it comes to Michkov.
A team just has to go with whoever they think will be the most special/effective player when all is said and done. |

Im guessing it is Massimo Rizzo? University of Denver. 7th round pick in 2019.
Last season with UofD 38 gp, 17g, 29a for 46 points. (led team, 11th in NCAA)

Don't disagree. We're about to find out if the fall down the draft board forecasted by McKenzie comes true. |
