Erik Karlsson wins another Norris.
101 points which is great for a defenseman but a minus 26, team missed the playoffs and team is trying to trade him…but best defenseman in the league strictly because of the points.

What if they flip Hall for a high level asset? - MJL
If they could the Bruins would have done that already. Hall does not have high value in this league or at least not as much value as you might think. |

That is the problem with all of these awards, the criteria is points based more than anything else. To me Montgomery did not deserve the Jack Adams, Bergeron should not have won the Selke over Marner and Ullmark simply backed into the award. But as a local Boston sports talk personality said yesterday, "nothing says Bruins more than regular season awards ..." |

There are cap issues league wide. Not many contending teams are able to take on a 6M cap hit player with term. Boston was able to trade him without retaining any salary and without having to attach an asset to get Chicago to take him. Hall's value will be different at the trade deadline of the 24/25 season when he will be an expiring UFA, if he continues to play well. You are confusing two different scenarios. |

Montgomery completely deserved the award and was a shoo-in for coach of the year from about mid season on. Bergeron when healthy has a massive effect on the game for his own team. How did Ullmark back into the award? |

There's so much smoke that Briere will do almost anything to draft Michkov, I'm starting to believe it is a misdirection. The "fog of war" is at hand. - Trox88
Fog of war is right! At least it’s more interesting than previous years |

How Savvy is it? Hall is on his ... what? ... 6th team now since being selected 1 overall by Edmonton? He is not a winner, and not the type of player I would want around Bedard. Good for Boston, they got out from under a bad contract with little effort, perhaps Briere should have apprenticed under Sweeny instead. - jd250
they got a top 6 winger for free who they can flip (if they choose) for assets down the road. There is zero downside to this deal.

Chicago is killing it this offseason. The plan they embarked on at the beginning of last season has worked to perfection and they still have $27 mill in cap space along with 11 picks. - Flyers_01
yep well done on their part.

He's -26 because he plays 25 minutes a night on one of the worst teams in the league.
He had 74 ESP in 82 games while the most any Sharks forward managed was 46. That's basically unheard of. The only forwards in the league with more were MacKinnon, Pastarnak and McDavid.
And those 74 ESP were 11 more than Provorov managed in the last three seasons combined. |

Ullmark, like Swayman and Tuuka Rask before them are products of the defensive system the Bruins play. You can plug in any competent goalie and produce the same numbers that Ullmark and Swayman did this year. We all saw what Ullmark was once the playoffs came around this year, which was the same as last year. That is why the Bruins are looking to trade Ullmark also to get out from under his contract, because they know Swayman will give them the same kind of performance. That is why to me its not about the numbers, it about watching the goalies play and taking into account the teams they play for, if the league truly cares about identifying the best goalie in the league. |

I don't blame Chicago for doing this, I'm just saying Hall is not the player some think he is. |

"Keeping Hayes, while not a good option, is not the worst option.".
We all want to move Hayes and the rest of the league knows this. That means that Briere is trading from weakness and will have to take on a lot of Hayes' salary. I would rather Briere sits Torts and Hayes down and some how convinces them to get along. Hopefully Briere can get a better deal for Hayes at the TDL later this season? |

You're making the repeated mistake of overvaluing a small sample of games over a large sample. Not to mention not factoring in the injury issues that the Bruins had.
So your saying all those who voted for Ullmark for the Vezina didn't watch him play?
If the Bruins are looking to trade Ullmark, it's for cap issues, not because they don't like him as a player. |

Hilarious premise that somehow John LeClair is intervening with Tory Krug trying to convince him to come to Philly. I think people should just lay off Krug. He is 32 years old and wants to compete for a cup. Why on Earth would he come to Philly, especially if Krug explicitly included the Flyers in his NMC list of teams? I've heard Boston is a destination for Krug, but they still don't have the cap space and will use the money they got from getting out of the Hall contract to resign Bertuzzi. It was a nice thought but I would say Sanheim to the Blues is dead. Better hope another team is interested in Sanheim because otherwise the Flyers will be stuck in Sanheim hell for a long, long time. |

I know we usually joke about a player "being good in the room." But in this case, I think Taylor Hall is a good mentor for Connor Bedard. Hall went first overall and struggled a little in Edmonton. He has lived through being a former #1 pick. He'll be a good mentor for Bedard. He can still contribute on the ice, but for me, I think it makes sense due to his background. |

Of course I do, and I certainly have loads more standing than you do on this topic, since I get to watch Hall quite a bit and also get to read and listen to those that write about the Bruins every day. |

Good points. I never really considered that Hall could be a great sounding board for Bedard as he deals with the pressure of being the first overall pick. I was completely looking at it from Hall on the ice. |

I'm saying Ullmark is a complete product of the team in front of him. Also the Bruins are looking to trade Ullmark because they need to free up cap, and they know he is redundant in their organization, since they have Swayman who put up similar numbers and performed well in game 7. |

Sanheim is a solid player and still relatively young. It is not a bad thing that he stays. The players that the Flyers are in hell for in reality are the players acquired by the GM you backed. Hayes, Ristolainen, Deslauriers, Ellis and possibly Atkinson.
