With the 178th pick the New York Rangers select Dylan Roobroeck a huge 6'7 defenseman from the Oshawa Generals. An overager he had 53 points in 68 games this year #NYR #NHLDraft2023 - jimbro83
nhl.com draft list shows him as a center, not D. |

Rangers could’ve drafted buckets of mud the rest of this draft for all I care lol. I still can’t believe this kid fell to us at 23 |

Apparently the 3rd round pick we took is a good value pick too. Shutdown defenseman |

I’m ok with taking D, the cupboard is pretty bare now with Jones miller and Schneider all in the show
Maybe next year center will be the focus. I could’ve seen them have a plan A that completely turning on a dime once Perrault fell to them. I know I’m giddy, but I’ve heard numerous of these draft gurus about how good he is, and will be. Captain material some were saying |

Obviously would love if Laf were faster, but I don’t think skating is what’s holding him back. He gets his chances, just doesn’t convert enough. Not going to have 12 speedsters on offense.
Might not make much sense but when I watch Perreault I see a little bit of Zucc. Similar skating stride and has eyes in the back of his head like
Zucc. |

Hey man, I think we got a great value at 23. I’m not quite as excited as you are bc these picks in the 20’s are all crap shoots but the value is definitely there. Musty would’ve been nice bc he plays a physical game but I’m not complaining, don’t know enough about these kids to make a love/hate about it but I’m happy with the pick after reading up about him. |

LAF has the ability to make a move and has shown a few times he has another level on his speed. The problem with him is decision making and apprehensiveness. I feel like every game I complained how he would take the puck up the ice, cross the blue line and then abruptly stop to look for a pass whether or not someone was there. |

Or he’d whiff on a pass or leave the puck behind |

Exactly. He’s overthinking everything. On a positive, he’s one of our few forwards who have shown a willingness to consistently play physical hockey. Don’t see him ever justifying 1st overall but I could see a big breakout season coming. As others have said 25G and 30A is definitely feasible this season. |

This is a silly take. He was the consensus #1 pick. female dog all you want about luck and/or development. They did not make a mistake by draft Lafreniere. Any other view is revisionist history. |
