Everyone around Toronto getting stronger. They will have stiff competition this year. I predict they will re-sign Willy, Sammy. Only other FA they sign today will be Connor Brown. They will keep the 4 core, and fill out the rest will AHLers. Just my honest opinion. Let’s face it, Shanahan runs the show, he should have just named himself as both GM/Prez but he hired at reliving to save face when the blame comes down. Well it does allow them to keep their racial quota in good standing. Since Simmonds is gone, they had to play the minority card. Why it doesn't work, you can't use him in the playoffs. You must initiate, not even scores. You're asking for penalties doing that. In the regular season, you might put him in the lineup against a tougher opponent, but that's probably about 30% of the time. So you're paying him $1.3M on your cap, for about 25 games. To me, this is stupid. The NHL has moved away from face punchers and is more of a flow game and cheap shot type of player. There are so few fights any more. What a waste of cap space. Huge fail.

Agreed. This isnt washed up Simmonds when we got him. Guy is respected and still feared. 4th line can contribute. And he IS a deterrent. Now far as the knock on skating goes, we have always had the best in power skating to work with there too so he should be just fine and honestly he is a cost effective ohysical option. Its fine.
