If your highest paid dman needs schenn to be good and is "the worst" as you said...then maybe you move on from your highest paid dman.
- Fakepartofme

Hasn't that been a common complaint on Riles.. he doesn't make his partner substantially better.. And that is why the 7.75 per was rich for what he brings.

From my biased perspective - Hampus has always been a much better D man from the start. Bigger, much stronger, great in his own zone regardless of who he played with... and coming in at 1.25 less per yr.

Less offense but who cares.

Riley was easily Leaf's best D-man in the playoffs. Lindholm maybe because he played for so many years on a team that sucked balls for so long..... not so much.

The aging Bruins did win the President's cup though

Yeah and it was because of Schenn. The amount of defenceman Morgan has blown at hockey with, you finally find one that elevates his game to his salary and the worry is it costing a million or two more?

Should be running to the bank laughing that the rare fix didn't cost Seth Jones money.

They already are big losers. They’ve lost their position of power on Matthews contract and lost much of the power on Nylanders. Marner is a ufa in 2 yrs and now has a no trade. Talk about mismanagement. What a mess Dubas left.

I like Schenn but he's not Riley and its not close. Leaf may have other options on defense. I would think that they are looking at moving out Brodie as well, at $5M he just doesn't do enough.

PPP commentariat is already losing their absolute poop over the potential Ryan Reaves deal. The angst for Treliving is absolutely palpable.

I can't wait to have a lot of cap tied to our 4th line with Kampf and Reaves lol. I don't hate Reaves, but he isn't 4 years ago Reaves, this will turn bad pretty quick IMO

So far Treliving has been medicore. He has time to turn it around, but we are worse today , then we were last year.

Cap going up to about $88M in 2024-25 and $92M in 2025-26, this contract is and will be small potatoes. Adds a required element to the team. $1M salary (under current rules can disappear in the AHL. So you are complaining about $1.05M over three years?

Very early days.

At least wait until Game 1 before making this kind of pronouncement.

It's still an overpay for a 4th liner. Constant little ovepays for middling players hurts still. Again, Treliving has time to improve, but so far this has been a bad offseason. Could change very quick, I'm not worried or anything, but he needs to add good players today/this week.

Who knows, the minimum contract could be 1.35M that can be berried in the minors.

It's fine, I would be more worried about having to bury a poop contract like the Nucks, Wild or Oilers are living with. How about Colorado with Landeskog for $7M until age 90 or so.

Baer in mind that buried cap hit relief of a player in the minors is rising with the minimum salary ($775k) to $1.15m for the next three years, so if he doesn't work out, it's a hit of $150k - $200k depending on whether it's $1.3 or $1.35. With the cap rising, that'll be negligible.
