It's definitely an issue that's hard to solve. They could do a Matthews and have their residency set up in a U.S. state and be paid in signing bonus with a minimum base salary. If this doesn't get figured out, we'll never see another Cup winner from Canada. Bloody communists in Ottawa.

Lol I won’t argue against Canadian taxation but it’s because I’m an epileptic who has received a poop ton of medical care so needless to say I will always happily pay it.

But I’m starting to see it… Canadian teams in the league? Less than 25%, highest paid players in the top 10? 50% on Canadian teams.

And people think since there are ways to avoid taxation in Canada til you’re an age like 55 that the player would pass that discount onto the team, that’s cute tbh lol. Guess why Canadians routinely move to Florida when they retire for instance? If you believe it has nothing to do with a taxation difference wow. Here it’s 53.53% and there it’s 37%

Players and their agents are after a take home and could care less about the cap hit, that’s like caring more about what you cost your employer than what you bring home.
