One for Klingberg, his offense looks great but not one highlight of a good defensive play

Every (frank)ing year the Leafs grab me and pull me back. I was meh about the team and didn't GAF one way or the other until these signings.

Not that I'm jizzing blue goo like ZZ and think they're going to win the Cup but I really am kinda interested and curious to see how the team looks next season.

Bertuzzi's got some slick mitts too...

But he’ll have to get new blue mitts for Toronto.

Go take a look at Capfriendly - Bettman needs to step in and take over the team.

$23M in dead cap money next year.

Six defenceman under contract next year, for less than $7M.

Playing in an arena with 4,600 seats, and no current plans to build a new one.

Numerous roomers of players and companies not being paid on time.

It reminds me of the stories of guys playing in the WHA, not knowing if their team would make it to the next game.

- Atomic Wedgie

Oh Arizona is a complete joke of a team. There's nothing that could convince me otherwise.

I'm just saying I don't blame Kerfoot for getting the biggest contract possible.

Not that you'd expect Treliving to say "it's true, he didn't like Keefe, our coaching staff and Auston's mustache" either...

What was the exact figure he turned down in Toronto?
- jribout

No idea.

I’d check Twitter for a roomer or two, but it seems to be broken.

They’ve got till September, maybe December at the latest, to come up with something real. Any new arena will take at least 3 years to get to public referendum which they’ll lose again

You can also expect a lot of fake rumours being spread around because it’s the Leafs.

Freidman said not long ago that he has to be careful because rival execs spread false rumours about the leafs all the time because of the media.

I’m sure it’s similar with the Habs.

- Santo_44

I have no reason to believe that O'Reilly left because he didn't like the staff.

I have no reason to believe Treliving when he implies O'Reilly left because he didn't like the pressure of playing for the Leafs.

I only believe Bob Mackenzie and Youppi!

I’m kinda at the point now where I don’t give two poops about the regular season. Sure, I’ll watch the games, Go Leafs Go, whatever, but it’s 82 games of me waiting for the playoffs to begin.

How's tricks Wedgie? Haven't seen you in a while. And, yes he will have to get some new mitts.

Kid is already busting balls for his jersey, apparently Bertuzzi is one of his favorites.

Lindholm is the only trade that makes any sense.

I do think they find a way to get Zadorov at 50% retained.

Treliving has managed to add 3 good players on 1 year deals without giving up draft or prospect capital.

Maybe they use Nick Robertson.

- Santo_44

I think that something like this is a possibility. They want to move Tavares to the wing. So I think a good 2nd line C has to come back for Nylander somehow regardless. Throw in Brodie for a dman that is a smidge cheaper to create more cap room. So start the negotiations at Nylander & Brodie for Lindholm & Zadorov or something?

Yep, that's exactly where I am.

But at least now I can get a little excited to see Reaves punch some female doges, Domi make his dad proud and Bertuzzi as a better/tougher Bunting for some regular season games.

I’m not sure what is going on with Twitter, but from what I gather from the owner’s tweets, apparently we can blame transsexuals.

For everything.

Except for forest fires, which of course are caused by Jewish space lasers.

These are interesting times.

Gonna be an impressive + from Calgary's side, if that's the case.

You think you have problems?

My daughter is going to McGill in six weeks.

I’m going to have to have a long talk with her about respecting her father’s wishes - we are a blue and white house.

Shut up, Scabby.

Calgary would have to move out a poop load of cap space before doing that they’re pretty tight to the cap already. I’m not sure they could handle just Brodie for Zadorov.

First time caller:

Can anyone succinctly run down the status of Nylander and Matthews?

Am I correct that Nylander and Matthews are still negotiating their deals?

Am I correct that Nylander submitted his 10 team list cuz the numbers aren't close yet?

Any update on Matthews and his number, ie: close or far apart?

Are we at risk of losing either of them at this point??

I don't get Toronto media updates down here is the US of Upside Down and I keep getting the NTC, NMC and restrictions the Core have with their contracts.

PS...(Marner and JT both have 2 years left so they're safe on the island for now, right?)

In case it wasn’t noticed I’ve already openly admitted to being wrong about Bertuzzi being willing to sign in Canada, like his playing style but I don’t like him, he’s proven he’s the type that puts himself first. He’ll be productive as hell on Matthews’ wing tho and his defensive liability will have another winger like Marner making up for it.

Domi I'm liking, no evidence to think it but I have a gut feeling playing for the leafs will amp him up a bit.

I’m thinking these signings are due to Keefe having more of a say, they’re pretty much more talented versions of what he was.

Interested in this upcoming season due to this tbh.

This is entirely on Bettman. He's been a failure at growing the game and this is a good example of what is holding the NHL back. Another is his failure to promote and protect its star players. Since 2005 (beginning of cap) the cap has gone from $39M to $83.5M in the NHL. Over the same period, the NBA has gone from $49.5M to $136M currently. If a player tries to goon one of the opponent's star players in the NBA - he's tossed out of the game - playoffs or not. As poor as the officiating is in the NBA - it is significantly superior to the NHL especially in the playoffs. If a team is not pulling their weight financially, they are moved in short order.

Congrats but damn! Is that the sound of Jumanji-like impending doom I'm hearing?

Hopefully she just comes back with a love of the Habs and a Caufield jersey and not a french husband...especially named Scabeth

Can’t really comment on most of your questions, but Nylander submitting his list means absolutely nothing. He’s contractually obligated to do so.

If you are asking me to guess, Matthews stays, and Nylander goes to the highest bidder, which won’t be Toronto.
