I dont believe it had to do with maybe being on the 3rd line. Chances are he would have been the 2nd line center and jt moved to wing.
And it doesn't seem it had anything to do with taxes etc.
By the sounds of it, his brother lives in Nashville, ror is a music guy, and he likes his anonymity.

I’m not a heavy stats at all. They are great to a point. There are a lot of stats that have too much influence from factors a player can’t control and to a certain degree hockey stats can be subjective just as much as the eye test. Hits, Forcing turnovers, give aways - there are a bunch.
Mostly though they can be cherry picked as everyone knows. But I’ll give it a go:

Heres the thing, dubas created monsters. He overpaid both am and mm, neither should have been over 10m....at all.
Am 9.5 max and marner 8.5 - 9 max.
But dubas threw bundles of cash at them, and now willie looks at what marner was overpaid and probably how he'll get an increase in that overpayment and says hey, im worth 10m because look what they get paid.
Reality is based on comparables outside the team, willie should only be 8.5 - 9.3 ish long term. But based on the comparables ON the team, i understand why he wants 10m.
Which will probably see him traded.....or marner.

Early days but I'm liking the idea of Domi playing with 34 and Bertuzzi with JT.

Matthews can hide his defensive weakness and Domi ends every shift with some face washing and drags 34 into a few more battles.

Knies can help drive line 3.

Curious to see if Reaves still skates well enough to knock down some blue liners.

Would be good to see Knies with JT or Matthews, preferably JT to see at least a bit lesser quality completion.

I think it would be better to grow the kid by not having him be the focal point on his line, expecting him to drive his own line after a couple handfuls of NHL games is probably setting him up for failure to a degree.

Leafs do need to offload Murray
but if you are tradin for Saros, id think you have to give up one of Woll or samsonov..at least to even out the value, but also, Saros is the starter...and one of them would have to go then. Makes sense to me Woll would stay at the backup/starter of the future
