Kerfoot is of course free to do whatever the hell he wants, but I have a hard time respecting a guy who would go to Arizona instead of staying in Toronto for a little less money.

They won’t be competitive for the next five years.

What was the exact figure he turned down in Toronto?

Most good teams would use him as a utility guy which makes it hard for him to score.

Go on Arizona, get 45-50 points and cash in.

Likely my guess. Play top 6 mins. More PP hopefully. Cap goes up in 2 years and possible to be traded to a contender.

Someone told me ROR left not because term, money or taxes, but he didn't like the coaching staff/how coaching was. Interesting.

Not sure if that's sarcasm but doesn't make it untrue.

There's still 2 problems for me, Keefe and a true team identify which comes from players that actually play with each other for more than a "show me" deal.

Hopefully it works for the Leafs and not just the players salary this time.

"Come to Toronto, where we lose but you win when you leave."...not really a Cup team slogan IMO.

Treliving on the ROR rumours, wanting out of a bad Leaf room: "We had a pretty good idea which players would move on. I had a really good talk with Ryan. He loved playing here, loved our players, loved the room. But sometimes when you’re from this area, there’s a lot more to it."

Sounds like an Ontario boy that didn’t want to play in toronto

Nylander is owed just $2.5M in actual salary for 23-24.

If he's traded and signs for 7 x $9M, it would be about 8 x $8.2M in salary. If he gets moved, I'll guess it's to a non-cap team.

For comparison, Nick Schmaltz's deal (3 x $5.85M) is really 3 x $8.15M in actual salary.

This makes a lot of sense…a team that also needs to think of dollars handed out can feel more comfortable giving him 8X9.5M knowing over 9 years it’s less.

Not that you'd expect Treliving to say "it's true, he didn't like Keefe, our coaching staff and Auston's mustache" either...

You can also expect a lot of fake rumours being spread around because it’s the Leafs.

Freidman said not long ago that he has to be careful because rival execs spread false rumours about the leafs all the time because of the media.

I’m sure it’s similar with the Habs.

Go take a look at Capfriendly - Bettman needs to step in and take over the team.

$23M in dead cap money next year.

Six defenceman under contract next year, for less than $7M.

Playing in an arena with 4,600 seats, and no current plans to build a new one.

Numerous roomers of players and companies not being paid on time.

It reminds me of the stories of guys playing in the WHA, not knowing if their team would make it to the next game.
