Agreed. One is going to a team with an upward trajectory and the other is staying in Detroit.

Just heard from a friend Zadina asked to be released (per an Yzerman quote)

I'd be surprised if anyone bites on his current contract, unfortunately

Yzerman didn't draft him. Troll post or being serious? Still see all these comments everywhere.

1. This wasn't an Yzerman pick

2. He missed a lot in the 1st with Tampa. See: Connolly, Namestnikov, Drouin, Howden, Koekkoek, C. Foote, N. Foote

Draper?

And I do think ANA or CHI will grab him. Low risk and they have the cap.

Hard to believe this is the kid who said he’d make Montreal pay for passing on him at the draft by filling up their net…

Ken Holland ring a bell?

I sure hope someone grabs him. However at 1.8 mil for what 2 more seasons for an underachieving bottom 6 forward? I don't know. You can probably fill Zadinas roll for cheaper and not be a top 6 pick. Like Yzerman stated today. High picks don't always pan out. It happens all the time, not just in Detroit but around the whole league.

I wasn’t sure if Draper was in his role at this time.

2018 was not a great draft year. Is there another forward taken #6 and beyond that has thrived? Farabee is decent, but a 3rd line player at best. Dellandrea got off to a slow start but seems to be coming along. Sharangovich was a steal at 141. Detroit got a combined 46 goals over the past 5 years for two first round picks.

A bit disappointing but not really shocking. The glut of signings makes more sense now knowing he requested a trade. I thought everyone that went on waivers last year would get claimed and they didn't, but I'm expecting again that someone must want to take a flyer on him at half salary. He always seemed like he may be just about to figure things out but not quite. Maybe st Louis takes him, he did look good with vrana the few times they got out together.

That's on Kenny Holland. Stevie inherited Zadina.

Bud, we all had high hopes for Zadina. A good kid, a hard worker, but I’m going to lay it out. I watched probably every Red Wings game this year. I don’t think I missed many the past few years, being in Oregon and not having “blackout” issues. I watched him for a couple years now, and the guy has what I would call “frustration energy.” I don’t know what else to call it. I can’t even count how many times I saw that look on his face, his reactions, his very public expression of frustration…and throughout all that the Red Wings stuck with him.

I love yzerman’s quotes on the recent articles. He did not want to dump Zadina. Apparently he asked for a change of scenery. And apparently there are no takers. I’m sure Yzerman tried to do a package deal, to maximize value for the wings. I’m sure you could’ve got a draft pick for him, but it wouldn’t have been a very good one. That is on Zadina.

There is a chance he passes waivers. If that’s the case, he will go to camp, and compete against other players. I’m not betting on him at this point.

Yzerman wants players who want to be Red Wings. I have a lot of respect for how he’s managing to get players that want to be on the team. In a rare admission of frustration, Yzerman admitted he didn’t want to do this. Full props to the guy.

No way Yzerman retains salary on Zadina. He can bury approximately 60% in Grand Rapids.

Don’t ever question the HOBO’s. How dare you try to question the supreme leader. Toe the line here pal. Doom and gloom or (frank) around and find out. No optimism or any of that crap is allowed here.

I think you nailed it here. A little too much positivity and love for the Red Wings but the HOBO’s will define if you’re allowed to speak or not. Best of luck
