also never claimed there was a trade turned down. Here is bill reporting on it.

he says the flyers were already prepared to turn down offers unless there is an overpayment. hence asset mismanagement. and as you agreed he is easily replaceable. - Peter Richards

he just wants to argue. we are all aware Chuck said weeks before the TDL teams were calling about seeler. and that to get him they would have to overpay. (i think he was asking for a 2nd round pick at the time.)
and anyone else we would've signed for cheap to fill that role could've been scratched as well. or a kid getting paying time. but no, this 7th d man is too improtant. laughable in a rebuild.
Also don't need him to stand up for teammates. Thats ND's only job.

Bill also said in that link that it's no secret that JVR will be traded with retained salary. There is no evidence that there was asset mismanagement in regards to Seeler. |

And so it begins. Shades of Bryzgalov or Cechmanek calling out the team mid game in the middle of the ice - SuperSchennBros
Čechmánek got a raw deal, the players deserved it but bruised many egos who thought they were better than him. That team in front of him played like crap.
The Flyers that year hold the record for fewest goals in a 5 game playoff series and an old school coach in Bill Barber (future Scott sherpa mainly because he was Clarke's friend and an exFlyer) who didn't believe in practicing the power play. One less reason to wonder why Scott's stewardship was so bad.

No, Bill is credible but you're not. You've taken opinion and tried to present it as fact. There are no facts to support your premise. While there are available facts to support my premise. Case closed. |

if Čechmánek was Canadian he would be lauded as such a great leader.

I heard the same. But I read that when he got to Sochi that changed. Sochi wasn’t a good team but they had systems and structure in place and he bought in on the defensive side.
When Kaprizov came over he had matured defensively. He was more like a young Swedish player on his defensive side. I’m sure the Flyers are hoping for some of the same. - Minnyhock
Honestly, if MM is anywhere close to advertised on the offensive side, I could personally care less if he even lifts a finger on the defensive side. If he does it's a bonus... I'm not gonna knock him if he doesn't. |

Just had a phenomenal world championship at wing, led the tournament in shots. He’s a winger. There’s a log jam at wing, we have poor center depth. Cates is best positioned as a 3C. - ClaudeFather
Having a guy play C all year when he’s pretty much been a winger his entire career spoke to me how intelligently Cates thinks the game. Most of the toughest defensive assignments are obviously the other teams top C’s. That is precisely why Cates was used as a C all year. Considering the year he had I’d suggest the team got it right as far as what position he was used at.
I think he’ll only get better at his new position. |

absolutely. having someon step in and even garner even minor selke talk is very impressive. going against the top lines each night. i would keep him at center. only has room to get better.

After last years performance they’d be stupid to switch him. Besides looking at the C position who exactly will take his place? |

He is intelligent. But, even in college, he flipped around between center and wing.

He can play both spots but he has a higher upside at wing in my opinion. The Flyers should not be putting team need ahead of what is best for a young player individually. |

As long as he’s responsible with the puck then he’s a guy you let create. There’s spots on the ice any team will want him when they don’t have the puck….it’s really not that hard. A lot of high end guys really aren’t bad defensively for the simple reason they have the puck more than the opponent. You don’t have to worry about the defensive side of the puck when your always on the offensive with the puck. |

There are plenty of quotes of Fletcher saying that there is interest in Seeler. There are no quotes of Fletcher stating that a team has to overpay or "knock our socks off" to get Seeler. If the latter exists, link to it and I'll be glad to look at it. There is no credible reports that the Flyers were made a good offer for Seeler and they turned it down. If it exists, link to it and I'll be glad to look at it. In order for it to be mismanagement, those offers have to actually be present. - MJL
any offer is a good offer for a die a dozen dman on a rebuilding team. Is it not about acquiring as many assets as possible cliff?

And maybe one day the Flyers may do the same thing. After watching him grow as the season went on I think he’s just scratching the surface. |
