Bill, any comment on Michkov being a bad teammate and not listening to Vets? As well as kicking a teammate ? |

Bill What ever happened to trial on the isle? - corduroy
Trial in the Isle was Jimmy McCrossin's thing. With Jimmy gone, Trial on the Isle went away. |

We'll see in Philly. I don't know whether the stuff said about him while in Russia was true, exaggerated or outright lies. |

Not the greatest thing to hear but he’s still a kid. Hopefully it’s exaggerated but one was a text from a teammate saying he doesn’t listen. |

" If the case were to actually get to the arbitrator, Cates would get either a one-year (more common) or two-year award."
https://puckpedia.com/salary-cap/arbitration
The party that did not elect the arbitration selects the term (if the player selected arbitration, the team selects 1 or 2 year term). |

Any comparables for Cates? I wouldn’t think this would be a tough one to get figured out |

Some of it may be sheer jealousy. Some of the same things were said of the late Alexei Cherpanov but no less than Jaromir Jagr said that Alexei was one of the sweetest kids he ever met.
I kind of suspect, but I don't know, that there was probably at least some exaggeration with Michkov. The more credible stuff from scouts relates to him only playing the defensive side of the puck when the mood struck him and that he was prone to frustration when faced with tight checking. Those things aren't unusual with offensive prodigies.

Thanks Bill. Yea, it’s hard to actually know with limited reliable resources. Time will tell |

there are some here that believe Torts misused him... - black_francis
Not misused defensively. Offensively is another question.
Also still not in love with him as a C. |

Playing center really limits what he can do on the forecheck, which is one of his biggest strengths as a player.

Would his forechecking ability outweigh his loss in defensive impact going to wing? I don’t think so |

Bill, first of all, my sincere condolences on the loss of your mother in law. May she Rest In Peace. Question: any follow up as to why Cutter didn’t want to come to camp! Thanks. |

Been said a million times, NCAA guys have to pay their way. I would think it’s more common for them not to go to camp rather than attend. Maybe I’m wrong |

Wings can have a lot of defensive impact. Like Stone currently, and Lehtinen back in the day.

Agreed.
And the defensive side is so fluid that being a "winger" doesn't limit his impact there either. Mark Stone makes a hell of an impact defensively as a wing. |

Those are more of outliers though, it’s more fluid but it’s still the center the majority of the time doing the heavy lifting, especially based on starts and stops of play. |

Well at least one prospect thought it was worth paying his own way :
8) Power forward prospect Devin Kaplan, who is coming off a strong freshman season at Boston University and will be at the USA Hockey World Junior Championships Showcase later this month, paid his own way to be eligible to attend the Flyers Development Camp again this year (as required by NCAA rules for a player tor attend a second Dev Camp with the same team).
