KD is showing to be an astute trader.

The jury is still out on most of his two draft classes, even though I hope besides Bedard, Nazar, Moore, Korchinski, 3 or 4 of the recent late rounders are contributors a few years down the road.

As far as negotiating salaries, he has money to burn the next couple of years so I don't mind the overpays for AA, Foligno or Perry. In a few years, we'll see how he maneuvers the cap when some of the ELC's are over and if he has to make a splash in the free agent market.

But so far so good.

I would love to post screen shots of the comments on this BOD when these trades were made.

And letting Kubalik and Strome walk for nothing.

Now it is all sunshine and roses

I think the OTT package was sligtly better #7 and a high second and 4th compared to what should have been 2 late firsts. the fact that we got a top 12-14 player with one of the there picks probably means it will look better but did anybody think the 2023 pick was going to 19 and did anybody think the player we wanted would be there. Its really hard to get top 10 draft picks. the hit rate in the top 7 is very high. late first not so much.

I'll take Radyash over Kubalik all day long and maybe even Katchouk.

kubalik just got traded so clearly Wings did not value him Washighton had there worst season in 10 years with strome at Center putting up 65 pts. both guys score but the reality is there teams do not seem to be better on the standings with them on the roster. IE empty calories.

I am doing a Hawk sound check:

1) Who here, was originally from the blog at the suburban newspaper site where Tim Sassone worked, the Daily Herald?

and

2) Who here, was originally from the blog done by the western Canadien lad, withheld from his friend in Ontario, The 300 Level?

Kubalik and Strome are both luxury items. Third liners who will not grind in any sense of the word. They will score when the other team is focused on multiple other consistent threats who drive play to the other end. Strome and Kubalik do not drive possession, they are passengers who lack aspects of the game that aren’t related to passing/shooting.

Now that Kyle is finally putting Caleb Jones out to pasture, maybe he’ll trim more fat like Connor Murphy… whose greatest asset is getting us to the cap floor.

I have a hard time understanding why Murphy is still beloved by management when anyone with eyeballs/internet access can see he is an ineffective defender. He’s been in the league for ten years and has proven nothing, he’s taking a roster spot from a logjam of prospects we’d all like to see, and other teams salivate at the twenty minutes of time they get against him a night. He was an admirable tank commander, now it’s time to let actual talent play.

I was curious if he was there as well, as i didn't notice him in any of the prospects propoganda pictures or interviews.

I find it a bit odd that they really didn't talk about him at all, other than a tiny stretch from Dohnegy.

Makes me very nervous that he's the next Kayumov. No mention from KD or team that he wants to be in North America eventually or nothing.

Funny thing is he was at the draft.

- vabeachbear

It could be that since his family/representation had no advance clue that the team that drafted him was going to extend his visit with future work-related team building.

I know the Hawks housed the prospects but not so sure they did more than that, meaning his "traveling group" probably didn't expect the added expenses of the group now flying to Chicago and paying for a downtown room / change flights back home etc.

I am not sure how any other country handles their own citizens' travel, adjusting the overseas plans might be a tad bit more complicated.

Hated to see Hagel go but what a deal by KD. Then moving up in the draft eating Mrazek contract so they could sign someone else, then trading McCabe, eating half his salary, and Lafferty to the Leafs to help beat the Bolts in the 1st round. And thank you Florida for advancing to the finals.

The McCabe and Lafferty trade is the gift that keeps on giving, especially if both teams play each other again in the playoffs this year.

I actually hated seeing all our Blackhawks players go.

Are you describing GM speak when it comes to Murphy? Regardless of what they think of him, they have to put him in the best possible light, in the event of the stars aligning to where he can finally be dealt.

As it is, he has three more seasons. Even if they didn't have the salary floor to meet, they only get three slots for salary retention for a given season. One has already been used for the next two seasons, for the Jake McCabe trade. Two more slots left for next year's deadline. Maybe he can be one of the slots then. But he has to be healthy enough, and that's never a guarantee with him.

On a board of endless opinions from non-professionals… yes. None of us are pros. We all watch the team religiously. You don’t need to have a paycheck from an NHL team to have a different opinion. I guess we should reserve all judgement of management and players until the arbiter of truth Mohel gives us the OK.
