I'm sure I'll get annihilated for saying this, but maybe Murphy is that "Aucoin" type who just knows about everything in the league and can guide these guys, but just isn't a good enough player to apply it himself? At least on the defensive side.
I do think you can have too many cooks in the kitchen. I'm not saying that having guys like Hossa and Toews around as teachers or sounding boards would not be a good idea. I just think you build a staff with people who know and have bought into your plan and theoretically, they know how to teach others. Do we know what any of the "core" guys ability is to teach other players? - Chunk
Let's keep in mind that Toews auto-immune disease can prevent him from the rigors of full season travelling. He wasn't thrilled about it as a player before he became sick, I can't imagine it would be any easier now.
So, if he were to be with any team going forward, I would think it would have to be in a front office role.

With all of his health issues - and considering some comments he's made in the past about being mentally exhausted - I keep thinking he'll just go the Ray Bourque route and start some foundation or side business. Maybe be a "team consultant" for a while. He never seemed to be a FO type of guy to me, but what do I know? |

Please note that I didn’t mention using these resources full time, maybe just roving between Rockford and the big club on a part time basis. Also, I like what Richardson and Dean have done with the defense, but using Seabrook to teach some of these guys as well would be a win in my book. |

So we are agonizing over the new front office not offering an ex player and captain a part time coaching or ambassador job that he has not even remotely said or done anything to indicate he wants and said new front office have never said they'd rule out if in fact he was interested?

This was from back in January, but I'm pretty sure Seabrook is still coaching up there.

So, it could also be an availability thing. |

Agonizing may be a strong word. More like debating the merits. I lean more toward the "set them free" side, but understand that these players (Hossa, Toews, Seabrook) all have a wealth of knowledge and experience to support the new players.
To be fair, it is July 14th. What the hell else is going on that we can talk about? |

No reporting on the horrific crime spree in Chicago has fallen onto the sports page or internet sports sites and certainly not to us reading hockeybuzz
Crime has been a problem for at least ten years regarding car jacking on the North Side, primarily River North and near by areas but this year the brazen robberies have been carried out not only primarily by African American teenagers. Quite concerning is organized group of three or more often African American men with guns and ten or more crimes per night. Each day, more than double on weeekends.
Combined with crime on train lines, you would caution young people from settling in Chicago
Does a group of hickey players in town for a game go out for dinner, and as leaving an expensive downtown restaurant they are even assaulted. Some instances the thieves demand passcodes on cell phones - they steal the car and your wallet/purse
What has the police done about it? Not much over the years and especially of late. How bad does it get before something gets done. You know, like a Pearl Harbor bad. Because wealthy powerful people need to feel the pain before real response/action occurs
The fact is that black youth and blacks overall are rising up against decades of being lied to and never given the same opportunities as the caucasian. Moreover. What to do with the illegal immigrants in harbor cities. They are and will be integrated in black populated poor areas - that is the plan. Which is exactly what the powerful interests who run the country want, Nowadays they even want to see society becoming more the rich and the majority of people poor or not able to rise beyond middle class
I am sure this is going to cause economic collapse in downtown Chucago. You have already seen signs of businesses closing because they cannot stop the black kids and black folks all ages walking out of stores. The police are told to leave them alone once they get out the door. That is the progressive political approach the mayors since Rich Daley in Chicago have taken
In some areas of the country even defunding the police has been carried out. Honestly I don’t know where it has been a major impact - yet - on the community
So you think young hickey players want to go out at night in cities like Chicago?? I’m expecting a lot of noise and griping about crime issues along with voter suppression and expanding upon big lies by some politicians. You see issues of freedom and rights from both parties but I won’t dive into that
It is just that we have maybe the best rookie we may ever see starting a career in Chicago and he may not very long be asking for a trade out of Chicago
I don’t know if we all are carry conceal and the police go undercover, that crime goes away. Judges need to hand out stiff sentences
You ask black youth why they trend and they say they are just out to have fun But bad things happen and now organized gangs of thugs are riding roughshod on the public domain
That is no fun for us and our hockey team
Big problems
In Chicago particularly on weekends much of the city is flooded by kids causing problems all the while the teenagers and groups of thugs in cars are car jacking. Stay away from downtown Chicago and much of the city any day you are at risk. Be mindful, be careful |

Seabrooke is pursuing other coaching interests although he certainly would command respect and surely is a good communicator
Right now and as far as the foreseeable future, I am pleased with the job both Richardson and Dean provide. They have the right ingredients and have been successful in coaching. I would rather not add Sesbrook anyway, not now at an inopportune time. Both current coaches and Seabrook were defensemen and it is too much dmen when two is enough. If there is an organizational belief shared by a newcomer - say Seabrook was to take the reigns at Rockford - then perhaps the former star Blackhawk dman would be a good fit
Your idea is a good one if not for two good coaches already in place and three voices seems to many at NHL level …,just reiterating - jhawk59
Seabrook may be a ggod candidate as a Rockford coach down the road. Last year he was spending sone time as a player development coach with the Vancouver Giants of the WHL (BCHL?). He's from BC, surely enjoys it there, and I would imagine it would have to take a very good offer to go to Rockford.

Back to hockey...
Story from The Hockey News about Drew Commesso. They are high on him.
https://thehockeynews.com...-bet-in-goal-by-a-stretch - boilermaker100
We have four good goaltender prospects. How many will turn out very good in the NHL? Who knows! But I wish two of them could get more go than roughly 40 AHL contests next season. And the seasons beyond next too. |

2 or 3 years from now the goalie prospects may be a position of strength with Soderblom, Commesso, Basse, Stauber in the system and Gadaj in the pipeline. The more you got, the better the odds someone eventually takes the reins.

Last time I checked this was a hockey site, would rather discuss options for Hossa, Seabrook, and Toews to help with the rebuild, than crime in the big city because big city government refuses to do anything about all the crime. |

Stayed downtown and attended games in the early 2000ś. Did not feel unsafe at all but would not do it today. If others feel the same, might this affect attendance down the line? |

Don't forget Crawford. Someone has to tutor the goalie prospects.
And Hammer could spend time with the Swedes. |
