The same thing happened in Toronto to I believe Mitch Marner. From what I remember the car was high jacked directly from the player not a valet. So this was worse.

A prospect has to be 18 to sign an ELC. Bedard turns 18 on Monday so I would expect the signing announced soon. 950K per year and probably maxing out on the "A" and "B" bonuses which would be another 3.5M per year.

Stayed downtown and attended games in the early 2000ś. Did not feel unsafe at all but would not do it today. If others feel the same, might this affect attendance down the line?

That is my point, the area around the Stadium is significantly safer than it was 40 years ago. i lived near DePaul, and had to drive through Cabrini-Green (now gentfrified as North Town to get to the Stadium.

Last time I checked this was a hockey site, would rather discuss options for Hossa, Seabrook, and Toews to help with the rebuild, than crime in the big city because big city government refuses to do anything about all the crime.

I'm sure I'll get annihilated for saying this, but maybe Murphy is that "Aucoin" type who just knows about everything in the league and can guide these guys, but just isn't a good enough player to apply it himself? At least on the defensive side.

I do think you can have too many cooks in the kitchen. I'm not saying that having guys like Hossa and Toews around as teachers or sounding boards would not be a good idea. I just think you build a staff with people who know and have bought into your plan and theoretically, they know how to teach others. Do we know what any of the "core" guys ability is to teach other players?

Wouldn’t surprise me if crime doesn’t end or “get under control” after a couple of years. It looks like parking lot security is good at hockey games but once you get away from the area you better be careful getting gas or leaving your favorite restaurant or watering hole.

“You know when you never had a life, you don’t value life” a policeman once told me about criminals with a poor upbringing. Not only 15 or more robberies in the north and northwest side, but even more downtown by some riding divy bikes … .some shootings too…...how many per week, per month. Ask your Uber Lyft driver and many were carjacked or know someone who was. It is getting out of control but you seem to think it is a fad, eh

Thought we were between seasons. I mean I'm all in for made up trades, lineup cards, Stan sucks, Stevie Y was born on Mt Olympus, the crime rate around the UC is no bueno, etc...but it's ok to have other interests. At least I'm pretty sure that's the case.

True, I have other interests also, but as I read this blogs code of conduct, posts are supposed to be related to hockey, of which my post about the neighborhood around the UC violated.

Let's keep in mind that Toews auto-immune disease can prevent him from the rigors of full season travelling. He wasn't thrilled about it as a player before he became sick, I can't imagine it would be any easier now.

So, if he were to be with any team going forward, I would think it would have to be in a front office role.

If I was going to add Taser to the dynamic it would be with one thing in mind, that he would be seen by the youth as a winner, a former star and a fierce competitor with lots of details they could use.
You wonder if he could be a stay at home part of the staff (and a roadie when the situations permit), someone helps break down opponents and is the guy who gets the bench involved duringthec home games.
It is difficult to gauge where he fits...we know only his leadership and performance aspects, not how / where his strengths would be to mold the group.
Management knows Toews better than any of the leadership foursome they are bringing in.
So they know whether he fits a useful position run advancing this massive re-do.

I started the undertaking of putting on a solar shingle roof, (Not Elon's). GAF's, that is not the flat TV style that is above the roof.
The roofer and GAF are co-producers, 140 wind rating, and 15 year guarantee.

Since I am 73, that makes me 88 years with no roofing or solar or electric costs except teh $35 plug in fee each month.

Maybe, I will start to not be healthy.

All I know at this juncture, is I dreamed, wished, and was so preoccupied with the chance of a Connor Bedard actually being connect to the Hawks and my future, it is truly a dream, a stroke of luck I didn't know I (or the Hawks) had.

I could sit here, worry about injuries, the flop of all the other hyped prospects, and the GM Kyle Davidson losing his shine.

But why worry about not being here for it?

Back in the day ole Eli, under the watchful eye of big brother JJ, would have dropped you the old pink slip of death for a two day ban.

We have four good goaltender prospects. How many will turn out very good in the NHL? Who knows! But I wish two of them could get more go than roughly 40 AHL contests next season. And the seasons beyond next too.

Blackhawks have said that they are still looking to add a vet goalie for depth. Alex Stalock hasn't found a new team yet. Should they bring him back and have a Stalock-Soderblom-Commesso competition for #2?

That would force someone down to Indy if everyone was healthy, but would help if there were injuries. Guess that may be why they didn't sign Basse this year, not enough spots.
