Really nice work, Dots. Thanks for doing it and sharing..... But IMO BUF and ANA need to be considered too as well as COL coming from rock bottom and drafting McKinnon as a result.
Someone posted in this thread that forget ever having a dynastic run the like Hawks had starting in 2010. No doubt, the odds of having a run like the Hawks did are daunting in a cap world. No doubt, but;
Winning Bedard this yr bucked the odds and got the luck needed if one were to start building a dynasty or a multiple cup roster this is one huge step. Tons of ifs and luck to win one cup let alone more than one but IF Korchinski is a bonafide #1 Dman and the Hawks were right on their evaluation of Moore they have 3 legit pieces for a run built around Bedard.
As you point out the Hawks have a nearly unprecedented number of top 100 and top 50 picks over 3-4 yrs. Yep, the odds are stacked against 1 cup let alone 3 but getting Bedard, what they've drafted, the premium picks they have yet to make if you squint the possibility of a multi yr run is there. - Mr Ricochet
To me its interesting, like when i look at what Adams did in Buffalo since he took over he's done a really nice job of acquiring draft capital, there's a team who won the lotto twice and is piling up the farm system. He's been the most aggressive until KD came along
Sakic took the long route, didn't really acquire much draft capital over the rebuild. How lucky were they to have Makar fall to them at 4. I think that's part of the reason it took them a while to get to the SC.
Ducks are another team over the past 5 years have been acquiring draft capital.
What's interesting to me is none of these GM's seem to be that aggressive in the past, this season comes along and Anaheim, Blues, Red Wings, I'm probably missing a few are wheeling and dealing to gain draft capital. Did Kyle from Chicago start something?
In the end it won't matter if you can't draft well, but at least they will have way more swing and misses than other teams.
Added when you look at the history of draft picks for teams in a way you can see which teams have picked a lane and which teams didn’t. |

Is that Dots I hear hedging his bets? The Uber optimist who a few days ago called anyone a pessimist who didn’t buy into every draft pick from ‘22 and ‘23 making the team has suddenly become a realist? Good for you Dots, hopefully 7 or 8 of the draft picks make the NHL but if 3 or 4 actually do, Davidson did a good job. |

Why do pessimists think they can be the only ones that are realists?
I'm still uber excited about what KD is doing and Bedard will be playing for the Blackhawks. |

I haven’t read one pessimistic post on here in ages, the last ones were probably yours, so you’ll have to answer that question yourself. |

Yes, because we beat that horse to death. If you go back and read my posts, you’ll notice that I didn’t mention anything about coaching, just bringing them in to mentor these kids as part time consultants, they should be great resources. - Angotti
So i guess because a player is great they are a great resource. My experience tells me that the best coaching material does not come from stars but rather platers who sit on the bench watching the stars and while unable to replicate their skills they understand and can better relate what it takes |

I think Kyle from Chicago has set up a new paradigm.
Back before expansion and a true Universal draft in about 1969 (as the drafts in 1963-68 only involving players not tied in NHL team sponsored junior teams which were being phased out.
The Penguins did a big tank for Mario.
But no one ever saw the opportunity knocking to let go so many in the wake of the two aging stars and their giant salaries coinciding departures.
You could make the case that several teams have drafted, then traded top players instead of paying them, getting more early picks and trading them too.
I still do not have any clues to the Arizona plan. - wiz1901
Keep in mind KD has acquired these top choices getting squat for Toews and Kane.

Tru dat. Eli was indeed JJ's jack booted lackey. Seemed like a decent guy...til he got a taste of power. I mean we're talking power on a chat board but he embraced it and was more than happy to ban you for glancing sideways at ole' Uncle JJ. - HawkintheD

I'm certainly not going that high, but I do believe they will be better than most think. I don't think any of us really understand how good Bedard is, and how it will effect others.
I don't think they'll get a top 5 pick, in fact I predict they'll be picking 10th and 15th next year.

And here we go again with you bringing coaching into the discussion. All three that I mentioned were two way players, great defensively and pretty good offensively, unlike Gretzky whom you brought up before. Gretzky was a great offensive talent, not so good on the defensive side, not that he needed to be, but his best defensive position was cherry picking by the red line(this is from seeing him play live double digit times). |

Amem.
We don't need a ref, b/c really nobody has been crazy nasty for years...since the anti-Eli (moderator) people started talking crap about his wife in an alternate anti JJ buzz copied website for their enjoyment. - wiz1901
pure bullpoop. No one ever talked poop about his wife. Him and JJ for damn sure and they deserved it for acting like a couple of jagoffs.

I don't think it as much a reinstatement or playing in the NHL.
This to me was a drunken frank-up but he happened to get arrested after signing with the only team that already drafted Mitchell Miller, after saying they learned more about his bullying of a Black classmate with developmental disabilities four years ago.
This was a way to prove their idea of a "teachable moment" could be dismissed b/c Galchenyuk wasn't worth the bad publicity when weighing his actual value to them as a player. - wiz1901

LOL! That's one version I suppose. You left out the part where Eli was clearly upset he didn't get an invite to said alternate site and started banning posters for months and even years in a few cases for people who didn't happen to agree with everything JJ was blogging about.
If you notice, a lot of those people are back now and as you mention, it's not so crazy nasty. So what's missing? - HawkintheD
He was banning people for bullpoop long before that site was started. For saying hello and posting laughies.
Anyway. (frank) him. He is ancient history. |

Ogi was the best, he made sure he said Hi to Eli every day and I loved his meme of a Hunter with binoculars hiding in grass and always got banned for it. |
