Colliton is 38 years old. He just coached Abottsford 15 games over hockey .500. In 3 season's as an AHL coach he is 30 games over hockey .500.
He's won a couple of playoff rounds.
Coaching the Hawks over parts of 4 seasons including Covid he ended up 5 games under NHL. 500. and beat Edmonton in the Bubble. He was actually over .500 as a coach until a couple of weeks before he got fired.
Bowman was most likely told to not take on any additional salaries and had to promote a guy already under contract to the team just like they have done in the past.
Richardson is 54. He coached 4 years in Binghampton and was 30 games over hockey .500 and never won a playoff round.
He is 23 under NHL .500.
This is a results oriented business. This is a league that usually hires experience.
I will bet you my 1972 Chicago Cougars signed hockey stick Colliton coaches in the NHL again. - stevefrmglencoe
I'll take that bet and raise you my Titan stick with black tape on the blade and knob.
If I lose, I'll go double or nothing and throw in my easton aluminum with replaceable blade (hair dryer not included) that he gets fired within 3 years.
he must have a helluva of an assistant coaching staff. |

Please, hockey is a contact sport and the Dach injury could have happened playing in the NHL, AHL, ECHL, WHL or any other league.
KK will start the season with the Hawks, then will be loaned to Canada for the WJC. After the WJC, Kyle will evaluate his development and decide if it's back the the WHL or on to the NHL. - scottak
Of course it is....the point is there is NOTHING To gain sending Bedard to the WJC again. He was by far the best player there this past tourney, so what benefit does he/team get in the ole risk vs reward conversation?
THe other prospects.....if they need it....sure. For Bedard in particular, don't see it. If anything like Toews he'll go to the worlds and lets hope he doesn't run into Captain AMerica Connor Murphy over there....... |

I thought the same thing about TT and Shwartz. I was surprised at the end of the last blog to see some not wanting to resign Kurashev.
Wiz, you don't want to see Kurashev resigned?

Kurahsev dazzels with some insane skill at times.....think his biggest battle like most is consistency. I don't see the harm signing him for 1-2 more years and hoping the light goes on and then re-evaluate after that. |

Gotta read more closely, I didn’t say we knew 1% of draftees, I said 99% of us don’t have a good grasp of the guys getting drafted.
And I read allot about Richie and not once did I read about an injury, including the pre draft articles by anyone including Wiz, so either in a very unlikely instance a journalist had a scoop and chose not to write about, no one was aware. And I know many people at the Tribute Centre and nothing was said even as many of us were critical about Richie’s lackluster play. - paulr
Not to belabor this point, it really doesn't matter, I said, and say, that more than 1% of FANS have a good grasp of prospects. What is the percentage of NHL organIzation's hits on 1st, 2nd and even 3rd rounders? Not easy for even pros to evaluate prospects even though they have tons and tons more info on them than the average fan.
What really interests me is Ritchie and what was known about his injury in the NHL scouting world? Do you think NHL scouts were not aware of his injury until it was made public a week before the draft? |

Well exactly. Who is he holding back and while he might not be part of the long term solution, like you said, maybe the light goes on.
Who knows, maybe he could be a solid third line contributor when the team is ready to compete again. |

I'm in this group as well. Kid fits the profile of a player that will take a jump if it's in him. Add he's not taking minutes from anyone that's ready and I don't see the downside of extending him. |

100% agreed with you and HawksInD
I don't see the uprising about him staying on and blocking who? Then the moment he goes elsewhere and tears it up...it'll be a KDFAIL.......... |

We have no idea if Bowman was pushed to try to win another championship at all costs? We have no idea if he did or didn’t push for a rebuild but was overruled by ownership? KD is looking like Rock Star because he’s doing what is needed in rebuilding the team. How would he look if he didn’t have the blessing from ownership to rebuild? - paulr
This is why I always never kill Stan too much. I will always believe that everything was driven by McD, he is the devil in this play.
He always skates, and it pisses me off.

Was that the game where Gordie Howe butchered Larry Mavety? Dude was leaking all over the place.

Hopefully they have their roster they are very happy with, as it looks like they are now over the cap with 22 players and 3 of them goalies.
So with 21 they are just under.
and Andreas Englund is the 5th dman.

I think it was you who questioned trading the 2nd round pick to Philly and in return we got LAs 2024.
I believe KD would like to have the extra 2024 pick to trade up in the draft next year. Sounded like he tried to trade up this year in the 1st round and there was no takers. - BetweenTheDots
Wasn't me actually liked the move spread out more draft picks over the next few drafts. Smart by Davidson. |

Ok Paul, my last post about this and you can reply and have the last word. If 99% of fans don't know does reason have it that 1% does know? That is where my comment that more than 1% does know about prospects comes from.
So, IMO I was speaking to what you posted, at least I was in my mind, but again you can have the last word if you choose to with no response from me.
I am not attacking/badgering you about Ritchie's injury and who knew. My point is there is no way NHL scouts did not know about Ritchie's injury by October but what had me wondering is how it wasn't known enough around the club that indeed a reporter would have heard about it.
The USHL has horrid reporting and maybe 1 or 2 total beat writers left in the 16 team league. When I started following the league in 2005 every team besides the Steel had a beat writer but with the systematic dismantling of public knowledge of everything by pretty much eliminating newspapers and or reporters the USHL is down to a couple beat writers period.
I don't follow the OHL that way but have to imagine the league has much better reporting than the USHL does. I also wonder amidst the injury news a week before the draft about his falling from being ranked #6 by McKenzie's 10 scouts to start the yr to him being drafted 27th by the damn Avalanche (lucky bastards). |
