What they used to say (maybe someone still does) on THE SCORE: Who you crappin.’ Oh it was Ditka and a couple talking heads that liked to adopt the verbiage/adjective.

No one is lining up for Murphy because he sort of sucks. And Johnson age, though more his salary + injury history makes him a red flag although a skill player worth adding if Chicago retained some salary.

If a team desired a veteran dman the scuttlebutt mentioned on this blog was that his salary/contract makes him an attractive pick up - again however if really need to add a third pair guy (who can play both sides but not too well).

According to Hawks Insider, there are rumors surrounding Murphy. I take it with a grain of salt as I don't think those guys are ever right.

Simmer down there sticky fingers. They cite “persistent speculation” without identifying a single source (which could simply be that guy at the bar who doesn’t realize they make shirts in his size). They also call Murphy renowned for his shut-down ability and thriving in top four minutes.

Is that really a report you want to hitch your wagon to?

Ditka said it to Boers when he asked a stupid question in Ditka's opinion.

The Athletic released their top 50 drafted skater prospects today (top 10 goalies will be released tomorrow). The Hawks have 5 on the list, which is expected given the number of draft picks they've had over the past 2 years.

1. Bedard (shocker)
17. Moore (I still think he could be one the the steals of the 2023 draft)
22. Korchinski
29. Reichel
50. Nazar

The Moore i watch him the Moore i like him. He's a guy who already plays 200 feet of hockey, he does need to work on his stick handling Moore but i definitely can see him being a Jordan Staal kind of player with more offense.

Yup, he will play w/o fear of the 10th game coming and going.

They have to get a decent look to evaluate, and if the management feels more time, he will go back to Junior after the World juniors after Boxer Day.

I think the only way KK doesn't stay on the team is if he is absolutely a dumpster fire to start the season. But, with Zaitsev potentially in the lineup, it will be hard to be worse than that.

He was as tough as 2 dollar steak as my Dad would say. He was fighter when he cam into the league until his daughter Meg asked why he always had to sit away from his friends.
Also. What a humble, classy, gentleman. Meeting him and sharing a couple drinks with him was something I will never forget. The guy thanked me for remembering him as a player. lol

Stosh could really handle a golf club too. And he was one of the first NHL players to use a curved stick blade.

He wasn’t even the best Blackhawk prospect on the Canadian WJC team. In fact I’m not so sure he was the second best. While Korchinski may have more upside Del Mastro is ahead of him in development and I think Del Mastro should start in Rockford. What is the hurry? There isn’t one! Let Korchinski lead Seattle and play a leading role on Canada’s World Junior team.

I remember as a kid taking my straight Hespeler and getting my Dad to take a torch to it and making a ‘warp’. I could make pucks fly everywhere …. But where I wanted.

I only see the 2023-24 Hawk defense as a work in progress that he is a part of.

They are looking at the front end potential and hoe far behind his back end play as pro has come will determine when he goes back to junior.

I say later...

In general, I agree, but if he proves to the coaches that he has the chops to stick and succeed in the league, do you still hold the same position?

Yep to all of this.. I'd add besides being behind Del Mastro at this stage of his development Korshinski is behind Kaiser, Vlasic and Phillips as well.

I don't see it hurting him to get a good handful of NHL games but IMO the best for his development is playing big minutes in SEA, the WHL playoffs (remember he split a good bit of the #1 PP time with an overager Dman at SEA) and the WJC then back up to hopefully play in RKF for the playoffs.

So far I really like how KD has handled the prospects with Reichel and Vlasic being exhibit A. Same for Kaiser. Kid did not show one sign of being in over his head in the NHL with 3 yrs of NCAA development as a solid developmental foundtion..... No need to rush any prospect right now especially one as important as Korchinski.

If he comes to camp and outright wins a top four position, is physicality capable and has no glaring weaknesses I’d reluctantly agree. But even then I’d prefer he gets stronger, gain more confidence, builds on his leadership skills as well as work on any weaknesses he may have and progress methodically through the ranks . There’s no hurry and as Rico says there are a few guys ahead of him that are more mature physically but also deserve a chance to show what they have. Don’t Kirby Dach him, let him work his way onto the Hawks. The starting line isn’t this coming season.

While I appreciate the puns, Jordan Staal is incredibly slow and incredibly strong.
Moore is arguably the best skater in the draft, I don’t really agree with the comparison. That said, hopefully he doesn’t take finishing move tips from Athanasiou.

I completely agree. Anyone who has watched Murphy play hockey and thought ‘renowned for shut down and thriving in top four minutes’ might have had a profound stroke. I’ll be at the bar in my triple XL REPEAT da THREEPEAT shirt.

My only comparison is a center playing good defense. Kills penalties, hounds the puck, absolutely gotta get stronger but it looks like he already is.

I wonder if they are going to give Crevier a shot to make the big club?

I used his stick as a little kid not as much for the curve but it was a 7 lie which was perfect for me at the time. I hadn't learned the details of power skating yet. After I did I used a 5 lie with a sanded down rounded heel.

Might've been in the Athletic and came from Powers but last thing I saw on him described him as a long shot for the NHL
