Even if he is cleared to come back do you envision any team owner wanting to take the PR hit for having Q stand behind his team's bench ?

Wasn't as a head coach, but Marc Crawford was hired by an NHL team. Sure it was the sewer dweller Blackhawks, but he was hired.

"Funny" story is that he was just canned in Switzerland due to (in part) pulling an Andrew Shaw.

The Athletic posted their list of top 10 drafted goalies, Commesso ranked #10. Gajan and Soderblom were listed as honorable mentions.

From the 2023 draft class Augustine was #6 and Hrabal was #7.

I read an article the other day talking about Kane not likely to sign with a club until November-December as he wants to see how teams are performing and make sure his health is where it needs to be. That article rightfully noted that while he certainly has the ability to do so, many contending teams will be close to the cap at that point.

This is where I started laughing to myself about an absurd hypothetical. What if the Hawks amazingly played competitive and put themselves in good position for a PO spot by end of Nov. How much mental justification would I need to think bringing Kane back would be a good idea.

I'm all in on the FO justification for not offering 19 and 88 contracts this offseason. However, there is a part of me that thinks it would be hilarious to see the Hawks sign Kane under these conditions, and I think it would be very entertaining for both Chicago and the league.

Sorry for the odd tone of the post. Just some random thoughts on a Wednesday afternoon. Cheers everyone!

Then they fall out of the playoff race and trade him to Buffalo for a conditional 2nd…..

Good asset management…

If KD is committed to the rebuild he won't sign Kane.

Can there be a situation where he signs him, retains half and trades him for picks? Maybe but i highly doubt it

Unless the business end (Faulkner, Danny Wirtz) tells KD it would be a boon to the business side (which I highly doubt. especially with Bedard in the fold), the only way I see Kane coming back is on a one day contract so he can retire as a Blackhawk.

I agree,

I was listening to a pod cast yesterday and i just keep hearing its hard to compare Bedard to any generational talent because he already has a top 20 shot in the NHL, but what separates him from all of them is his ability to get the shot off be it in his skates, on his stick, a bit behind him, oh and by the way he might have the best backhand shot in the NHL already?

What i always find interesting in hockey more than any other sport is how is Bedard going to affect the other 3 lines. If his line is able to score on the opponents top defensive unit. In all likelihood life has just gotten easier for at least 2 out of 3 lines.

I also think that the PP just got better, will we score more than 38 PP goals this year? Probably

Not so fast, who is running the power play Seth Jones? Is Reichel the facilitator? or is it T. Hall? Is Perry the guy standing in front of the net/chasing pucks down? Who is the bumper? PP doesn't automatically get better with Bedard at the left hash unless you have guys who can set him up or go get the puck for him.

All good points, i think many players will see PP time especially Bedard, they are saying his shot is that good LA. Instead of hitting the post and out he will have those go in. Btw new blog up

Most of the players who’ve had Kane’s hip resurfacing surgery never play again. Backstrom is an exception, but he’s not the Backstrom of old at all. Kesler, Seabrook, and a few others never came back. I’m betting that if Kane comes back, he’s a Ray Whitney in his later years PP specialist and that’s about it.
