This was debunked by Gibson and his agent. It was a supposed insider just spouting off his beliefs - GPHawksfan
It is better for the Ducks if he doesn't outright demand a trade. Puts them in a weaker position. I do think he wants a trade, though. |

I know its unrealistic but it would be a wonderful problem to have
Vlasic S Jones
Korchinski Murphy
Kaiser Phillips
Allen next season can replace Murphy
DelMastro becomes part of the mix the following year
It's nice that since we are committed to the rebuild we can be patient and see how these dmen pan out
I do wonder if its too early to be pairing these combinations - BetweenTheDots
It is never too early to dream and it is becoming reality with incremental baby, youthful steps as some of the new kids will begin a journey
This journey has twists and turns along the way - what story doesn’t? I personally love the skating and compete elements KD is implementing
Believe that we can rise from the status of David and knock down the Goliath powerful teams in the league…..it is coming, it is a developing story and we hope to see it all the way through to more Stanley Cup appearances
EDPN knows about the David and Goliath stories
We can watch roster spot challenges the next few years and I believe we will grow accustomed to the newbie prospects moving in and offering more than just one attribute in their style as well as toward the success of the team
Not each young player is going to be an overnight sensation practically from the get go
I had thought perhaps wrongly that a young player in another team was bad defensively early in his career. Well another team but Orliv is apparently pretty good nowadays
The Blackhawks are going to be pretty good and we can start from the early stages watching our prospects grow and become very good NHL players
Hey Chicago what do you say
The Blackhawks are going to win today (more than before)
Sorry for the Cubs saying 6628 - a White Sox fan. I actually cheer for the south side baseball team and while I am a Cubs fan first, my favorite team is the Blackhawks. I notice other bloggers are huge Bears fans too - I know wiz is one of them. Easier to cheer the Bears when they make better personnel moves but maybe they are on the up swing now. Basketballl not really a fan |

Hopefully Dubas knew this prior to the draft.
Wiz's point is that Pittsburgh would have traded their pick prior to making the pick, since that is when it had its highest value. They didn't do so. - mohel
Thx, Mo!
I almost was gonna come back and try and rephrase but you took care of it.
Once the hawks draft Old Moore, they don't dog an pony himthrpoughg the room and the interviews and then send him packing a few days later.
Karlsson was as available before the draft as he is now... |

I hear you J there will be twist and turns, there always is. The one thing i see differently is KD is doing things in a way where we may become the Goliath. There's always risk in anything, but without risk can there be reward? Vegas took risks in signing guys to big contracts past their primes and were rewarded this year. They made so many moves that they ended up on the right side of like Florida but there only can be one. Can Vegas duplicate success this way? Will Florida make it back to the cup finals? This league really is a mother (frank)er just hearing these players play through the injuries they had really speaks volumes of what great team mates they are to try and win the Stanley Cup. |

I think KD is wanting to always work from having a surplus of assets.
- 6 or more top 100 draft picks every year
- A full development pipeline with guys who can fill in, replace aging players, or be traded for current needs
- Lots of competition for the NHL spots
Can see it in how he is adding into the top 100 picks for the out-years, 2026 already and maybe 2027 in trades this year and next.
Also the Boston trade - there is a D-man logjam so he traded from the surplus to get Hall, who he is thinking will be good with Bedard. Mitchell and Regula still have potential and might become good NHL players, but he could afford to swap them for a current need. |

He traded two defense that would have ot go through waivers to be sent down. Not a big loss as there is no space on the main club for them

Would it be possible KD ecpksined his business principles in his interview for the GM job to Rocky? And perhaps Rocky asked how he thought the Beach incident reflected upon the organization? Suffice to say this is a bright young guy stepped into prestigious GM role |

KD figured a rock is better than a couple of bones. Wouldn’t call Hall a Rock of Gilbralter but worth more than those bones even if those bones turn out to have some useful life in them |

I think he traded 2 guys he wasn't planning on resigning and i think that is a great move.
I feel also unlike Justin Fields Poles really didn't help him in any way last year, KD went and got Hall to be a top linemate with Bedard and Foligno to be a player coach on this team.
These are really good moves and it didn't cost him anything.
And his ability to keep accumulating picks is outstanding.
The pessimistic fan says most of these players won't amount to anything, what if they do? |

I would like to see the Vegas odds on Hall career season vs injured again and whether Bedard suffers a concussion |

Sounds like Bedard is already thinking ahead of the play maybe even 2 plays ahead?
The thing is Hall won't have to be the play maker he will just have to read and react off of Bedard and Co. If the scouts are right.
I think this will be a fun year to see Bedard play, promising kids dline in the line up, and we may actually be able to keep the puck in the opponents end more consistently. |

Wiz, not sure the meaning of Moore and a dog and pony show, but:
No doubt it's ideal to trade before the draft so the club receiving the pick can draft who THEY want. For sure. But with a trade as complicated as it will have to be if indeed Karlsson is their target, and so much money needing to be moved, it might be 3 or even 4 teams to make that happen. Something as complicated as that with so many teams possibly involved it probably can't be resolved on draft day........ That is my point. That a trade the Pens make could very well be complicated. 2nd point is their core is 35, 36 and 36 meaning there isn't much time.
If KD was indeed looking to trade up while Moore was on the board I'd guess he spoke to Dubas who was holding the 14th pick and allegedly needs to move money, maybe a ton of it if Karlsson is the target. If so for some reason KDs offer, or Dubas' counter, didn't get it done.
Very interested to see if the Pens make trades, how they do it, how big it is and who is their target. 2 mil over the cap already, their core is old so there is probably a sense of urgency, a pipeline weak and plenty of draft picks to move for cap space. |

We liked our team. (There was that guy from the Wings they got and inexplicably kept for a couple of seasons)... dude must have been memorable -although I cannot remember him for the life of me - some European guy. Not Panik, someone else.

They really didn't do anything other than realizing the O-Line was going to be an issue headed into the season and tried to patch it together with Reiff and Schofield which didn't do much.
I'm hopeful to see Fields take that next step this season and find his rhythm as a passer. Will be his 2nd year in Getsy's offense and the addition of Moore is huge. It helps slot Mooney and Claypool accordingly and the addition of Scott from UC who can stretch the D should give them targets all over the field.
I like the addition of Tonyan to the TE's. Think it's a bit of an underrated move that gives them two legit players at the position and another target for Fields after Kmet had a bit of a breakout year.
Hopefully Wright and Davis help solidify the OLine.
Now...back to hockey.
Was already a bit excited to see a full season of Reichel and some of the young dmen. Bedard and some of the other additions has me excited for both hockey and football to start. |

Start finalizing it before the playoffs are over.
The dog & pony show meant dragging Oliver Moore out in front of the thousands of viewers and live audience, and then sending him packing AFTERWARD to another team.
I suspect no matter how much Karlsson wants to be traded, no matter what the new GM Kyle Dubas wants to try this add own for a last run strategy, when and if it finalized, the Penguins will not send a ton the other way, so it would be a grand move on SJ part to to a trade, b/c they aren't gonna pay to sell him off.

As quick as these summers go now i can wait but I'm right there with you excited that I'll have hockey and football to watch this fall and both these teams are going through a rebuild but at the same time both teams have some really nice pieces.
Added bonus more Blackhawk hockey on Saturdays instead of Sunday nights. |

Interesting, I find Paul’s posts to be “fair and balanced”. But since this is a Hawks fan blog, I guess if you do not look through everything with rose colored glasses you are a negative Nancy. Might as well just move the blog to Twitter or to Thread, or any other confirmation bias platforms that exist.

What is there to debate?
We were gifted through good fortune, a first round pick that is a cut above the other first round picks in the days of 'yore.
The coach that is in place instilled a team system that emphasizes smart recognition and adjustment and I cannot think that Vlasic, Kaiser, and even others can adhere and learn form while playing here.
This is all about the team now showing they can draft and add successors to a replace the Stanley cup winning defenders, which the team really hasn't been enable to do since the Hammer departure.
It will be a a certified effort to find options that can successfully get the puck to the attack zone so the generational talent can start earning his NEXT paycheck.

I am team piss and moan however some great news.
Cooking classes are over and all of the young forwards were on the ice today at 5/3 8am after our 630am skate ended.
They were working continouss 2 on 1's out of the corner where each guy takes 3 reps F1 then F2 then defender. Watched 15 minutes. First time ever, the guards asked us to not stand next to the glass. After years of watching like this they told us the Hawks have requested we stop. I like the attention to detail whoever is on it.
No surprise, Bedard's hand and shifty skating stood out. Moore and Nazar were wearing full shields. Moore looked very solid and thicker on the ice than he did on the red carpet. Moves like a pro player. Didn't get that on first impression of Nazar. Bedard's defense was equally impressive. He can bend, keep the shaft of stick on the ice and change skating directions. He hunted every loose puck each rep.
The other forwards all wore half shields indicating CHL guys and I will have to wait to show the video to my kid to see which ones they are. One guy was wearing a San Diego Gulls jersey and Ducks pants. Between drill he was working on shooting lefty and righty.
Pucks explode off of their sticks. They were very serious.
Whenever anyone scored a nice goal they all were fist bumping the shooter.
All of these forwards are approximately the same height.
During the week Vlasic and Murphy are skating after us and they both appear to be twice the size of the group this morning.

For the guys that like Podcasts, the June 20 Bob McCown Podcast has John Shannon interrviewing Scotty Bowman. Apparently McCown has been too sick to record.
Bowman touches on the draft and the Hawks teardown rebuild. Dismisses picks after #70 and questioned teardowns.
He talks about how he doesn't like watching on TV because of the camera angle and he can't see the puck. Thinks Florida layoff before Finals sapped the life out of them because they had too long to hear how good they were.
Of course I interpreted what he said as vindication of my skepticism, but would be very interested to hear what you guys think about his analysis and commentary.
