I actually thought Chytil was very mediocre the last 1/4 of the season, and playoffs as we all know. But I see what you're saying with giving Laf and Kakko time.

I feel like the next 1-2 years will show us what Chytil will turn into as a player. If he's stuck in permanent 2B/3A Center-land, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded within 2 years.

Im not sure theres much more depth to Chytil's game. I dont think he will get much better defensively or become more physical, in that respect I think hes peaked. However I could see him flirting with 30/30 stats depending on his linemates and if they click.

Speaking of Chytil....I was talking to a buddy yesterday who brought up a hypothetical and I wanted to share it to hear everyone's opinion. He was saying if the NYR have an underwhelming first season under Laviolette, could you see Drury & co trying to dump guys like Panarin (FL/ANA come to mind) & Chytil to sign a guy like Austin Matthews? He said Chytil because he feels Trocheck fits better as a 3C than Chytil. Clears up the space needed if bread and Chytil were traded for picks/prospects. I know we are looking well into the future here and a lot would have to happen for this to fall into place, but we are in the dog days of summer and I thought it was an interesting topic of discussion

The issue from the very get go is Panarin has a full NMC through his whole contract. The player to fall victim to this scenario would be Trouba. Hes the one whose NMC becomes a mNTC in 2024.

We would likely have to move Trouba, Chytil and Goodrow to fit his contract extension in, while also filling out another 6 roster spots.

Really liked Vald’s game but he’s just not in the cards I don’t think. I think we missed a big opportunity on Zadina. Free reclamation project that I think we could’ve benefited from. Worst case he still stinks and we let him walk. I still don’t see Drury’s plan unless this is it and he plans on wasting more picks come the deadline.
