Boo hoo Adams has been keeping all of our draft picks and has helped contribute to the best prospect pipelines in hockey.
Adams does well in his trade returns “oh it’s because he’s selling”.
What could possibly be harder than being the guy who had to trade Jack Freaking Eichel ?
Trevling cratered the Flames organization when he traded Tkachuk yet we are sitting here with quite possibly the brightest future in the Eastern Conference.
Meanwhile Dahlin is about to put pen to paper on an 8 year extension, and he got Tage and Cozens signed to deals that are going to be absolutely bargain burners if they aren’t already.

Yeah this wasn’t said. Tuch is an excellent player.
But over the course of a season Tuch wouldn’t be as productive without Thompson vs Mittelstadt - sbroads24
That is exactly what you said.... "Tuch wouldn’t be as good or productive and this team would still be searching for a top 6 center."
Implying Tuch is a product of tage... yet you could argue it more the other way |

Sabres look to have a bright future, the prospect pool is brimming with Talent. But in reality until they hit the ice for the Sabres that's all they are is Talented Prospects and the Sabres have a good young Core in place in the NHL. There is nothing wrong with what the Sabres are doing and growing internally. But there is nothing wrong with wanting your team to use that Surplus of prospects to want to improve your team for today, especially when it's the same improvements that have been needed for 3yrs. - Buff36
Where this falls down is that you make it sound like this has been their only potential weakness. Two years ago we didn't even have a top line. The entire roster was a giant question mark. Every single spot. So yeah, we aren't positive one way or the other if he fixed 4D. We don't know if backup goalie is solid (how many teams do?). But Jesus, the fact that 2+ years in to a build and we have quality players slotted in to every other slot..... life is good right now. We'll know more when they play the games.

That's cool, I asked if you thought Mitts was = to Tage. - washedup20
Pretending that Tuch/Mitts has the same chemistry as Tuch/Thompson because of a small sample when Thompson had a cracked rib or whatever is certainly a good take |

The grades on a trade are constantly changing. The ROR trade was terrible for a long time, now it looks great. Krebs just spend his first full season in the NHL and I think he still has promise as being at least a 4C. Even if the future part of this doesn't work out, it was still a very good trade considering the circumstances. As desperate as teams are for a 1C, they wouldn't pay the price because of the medical issue. - Slump Buster
But You said it was a good trade for the Sabres at this point. How is it a good trade for Buffalo when we haven't done anything with Tuch yet and Krebs isn't more than a 4C. |

You really can’t argue it the other way if you have watched Tage Thompson with your eyeballs over the past two years.
He’s an absolute superstar on his own and saying otherwise is one of the most silliest things I’ve ever heard |

Thompson slowed down at the end of the year because
A. Teams took away his power play one timer
B. He got hurt
Neither have to do with Tuch |

I know I keep bringing this up but as a Yankees fan I see the Baltimore Orioles and I am drooling. Their major league roster is very, very similar to the Sabres: mostly home-grown kids and taking huge jumps every year. A ridiculous amount of prospects that are coming. I also don't think that people fully grasp how important it is to have your cap in a good spot when you are ready to challenge. Sure, there are ways around it, but it costs you.

Yet Tage away form the top line took a dip(Injured or not).
Skinner-Tage-Tuch compliment each other fantastically and have great chemistry.
Denying what Mitts did to finish the year cause of "small sample" is sillly as well, as it was the most important stretch of games in the last 12 years and Mitts was probably our best player over that stretch. |

Point A is correct and I think point B was a major issue after their 10 day break and on. |

So is Alex Tuch.
Do Tage and Tuch playing together benefit each other ? Of course it does.
Both are line drivers though |

Again, everything through a lense in order to build a narrative. Right now can't be fun because we haven't been in the playoffs in x years. And now the Eichel trade should be a failure because the main piece that we got in return is wildly better than we could have expected but the team didn't make the playoffs? Do I have that right? And Krebs had a nice year as a 21 year old in the league. As to what his ceiling is, I have no idea. I like the kid more than I did.
I remember the Red Wings fans saying the same about Stevie Y during the first several years of his career. It is a terrible way to judge talent. |

I think Thompson is a top 10-15 player in the league |

A guy is whoever he is at age 25. His draft position has nothing to do with it. On a good team, Sam is a 2nd line winger. Given that is who he is and had 1 year left, we got good value for him. - Slump Buster
That's revisionist. Sam was a 1RW at the time and Tuch was 3RW.
Whether he plays on the 1st line or not, Sam is still a 1st line quality player.

If hes "a superstar on his own" He should be able to find other ways to make the PP better than taking one-T's.

Half the players here were slotted here by JB. Sabres had talent throughout this whole little sh!t show, they just never finished it off and completed there roster. Really looking back the from when Rhino was drafted the Sabres had some talent at a bunch of slots, they just never brought in the pieces to finish the puzzle.

He is? He doesn't sign for 3x6 if he is a top-line player. Sure, he was a top-line player for us when we sucked and had a guy that carried the line. There were also reports that he was available at the trade deadline. Sure, could he be a top-line player on a middling team? Yeah. Not on a good team.

Krebs- ? Still waiting
Tuch- Only on that has done anything yet
Levi- ?
Kulich- Looks to be a Star but hasn't played a game yet
Ostlund probably 3yrs from maybe helping us
Value will be added when they help the team do anything. |

But why does that matter? I've been meaning to ask this: for all of you that keep bringing this up, how long is too long? For example, what if this team made the playoffs 3 years ago during the Hall year. Would that change your outlook on he team? That's what I can't get my head around. It really doesn't matter if we made the playoffs for 10 straight years or missed for 10. Right now is still right now.

Wait what is Tage now?
It was the “steal of the century” that contract Adams should have a bust maybe if his Richard at 1 Sabres plaza.
Now all of the sudden. Tage is only “a good player”
7 ways to sideways. |
