Should of let Girgensons go and dropped Greenway down.
Realistic options? |

Powerful read. I think this blog is Owen a lot to Garth, so to speak. You'd be a Joker to think our 2 superstar defensemen won't Boosh some less talented players down the depth chart. Still, man it's a lot of upside on the Buffalo D. |

Something has to give - my thoughts are there will be a trade involving a goalie coming to Buffalo and a d-man and prospects going 5he other way - I do have Markstroms Utica Comets jersey so that would work well…lol…in the immortal words of Gord and the boys “ it’s a good life if you don’t weaken.” All faith in KA to figure it out |

I find it mildly interesting that Comrie is never mentioned from these various pressers. I mean I get it, but it's still interesting. |

Like how fans keep saying see if Adams had made that trade with Cat that he would be getting ripped apart. Well maybe maybe not, you do know it could have worked fabulously for the Sabres and we aren't even talking about Dorion taking a shot and it Not working. |

Think we need to stop with the middlefat on the 1st line and Thompson on Cozens wing. Its getting ridiculous
Thompson is your 1C. No ifs ands or butts |

The first situation that will begin to repeat itself with how the organization drafted/developed...
Mitts is supposed to be a 1C - he disappears when moved down the lineup....
How many prospects are supposed to be 1C/W or 2C/W? How many will adjust to the roles that the Sabres roster needs them to fill? |

From the last blog...
Also, I can all but guarantee that the narrative here would be “wow look at Adams getting back all that for a guy that didn’t work out for them. He got back nearly everything he paid”
- ImThatGuy
Isn't this exactly what is being said by the Nay Sayers about The Sens.
Except, they fail to account for the value of time. 2 higher picks in 2022 are valued more than 2 likely latter picks in 2024, or even worse in 2025.
Sens lost.
I guess good on them for trying and failing? Lol...exactly what the Nay Sayers criticize Adams for.
Can't make this crap up

both arguments make sense in certain context.
some people want adams to try and take swings. if it flops, oh well, get what you can back.
some people want to hold onto your young cheap assets.
the best teams in the league draft their best talent and use the rest to acquire their complimentary pieces. Especially less desirable markets.
When you have a market like Buffalo, you're not attracting the big name guys most of the time when they want to play in LA NY FL or Toronto.
People just want to see their GM be aggressive, "now more than ever" because the team is legitimately ready to compete in the playoffs.

Nathan Paestch now a coach with the Amerks.
Wasn’t there someone here female doging about former players being coaches. |

the market's been pretty damn quiet. Sabres will have to make a move or 3 eventually.
A one year deal for Tatar or Tarasenko makes a ton of sense. Doesn't block anyone, doesn't block Quinn, allows you to freely shed Olofsson. Wins for all. |

That used to be a thing. Probably still is.
Learned my lesson after Weber. Hell, Ellis is apparently a good coach too.
I know those guys really like Paestch too.

I think Adams is going to roll with UPL and Levi.
UPL will get better than last year. |

I just don’t understand how a guy that big plays so small. If he can clean up some of the issues, if he can get Irbe’d, he could be solid.
I like UPL, I think he can be coached up and be a solid goalie.
I also think rolling with 2 very very young goalies is just dumb!
I also question Bales as a coach, not that I know anything. But did you see growth in Comrie or UPL this past season?
It is just such a big gamble for a team that just needs solid play from the net out.
It’s the ultimate boom or bust….

What I don't get is why is it assumed that trades / moves are the best way to get better? We just had 2 seasons of massive point increases, This was accomplished by letting the kids grow into very good NHL players. More growth is coming and another point jump is expected. Sure, always look to get better, but making a trade isn't always the best way to get better.
I know, I know - this all comes down to the fascination (obsession) with the playoff drought. |

I think that when he went on his incredible run that the coaching had started to sink in and he attacked more. Later on the, the wheels fell off of this team defensively and he didn't play well.

Always liked watching Vinny Prospal. Big utility forward that could do it all and played late into his 30's. |
