I get what you are saying, but I don't think they are that different. They want multiple quality assets for him, and I just don't see him as a made man in this league. Better than UPL? Yeah, probably so when all is said and done. He was good at times last year after having been pretty bad for a while. - Slump Buster
Hart has proven far more in the NHL than UPL has at either the AHL or NHL level.
Adams is betting on UPL to be good enough as to not warrant spending assets on an upgrade. That's his position and we'll see if he's right. There should be repercussions if he's wrong |

That's what I mean. The Sabres were asking for 4 "first round assets" for Eichel and settled for 3 plus a second rounder in exchange for Eichel and a 3rd.
So UPL and Ostlund is very similar to the ultimate outcome of the Eichel trade - Hank Balling
The net result was ultimately moving up from #77 to # 64 and trading it. Didn't end up being worth very much.

I still think Michael was onto something with the secondary market. NJ dealing for a G and ending up with Vanacek. or the marketing softening and Vladar.
I still don't get Tokarski, Cooley, and Houser.

That's what I mean - 2 first round assets is a malleable request |

You're right - he was used to seeing 50 shots a night in college. The pros should be easy
- Slump Buster
Nope a little over 31 a game |

Might as well stick with Comrie at that point imo. Do something worth doing |

Yup there's a world of difference between a high first, late first, and former first.
Packaging Girgs, Jost, Okposo, Joker, and Johnson won't get you Eichel.

Jokiharju was selected 29th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. - ImThatGuy[1]
I think UPL, Joker and a 2024 1st would
be fiat all around. We’re not given up any top prospect talent (except the 1st) and Briere can say he got his (2) 1st round equivalents and a 2nd round equivalent
Levi and Hart both playing 40+ games would be really nice and with a bit of insurance if one isn’t as good as hoped

Listening to Riv and Peters rant about KA letting Peca go. That + extending their current coaches is an odd look.
Are Bales, Christie, Wilford, and Ellis that good that no changes are needed and you let Peca walk?
Interesting that they said they may have done it because he threatens their jobs. |

Peters may be a mouth breather at times but he’s got connections to the org.
He drops subtle hints. He was all over saying Jordan Greenway would be a guy they could add to this team and what do you know. Had the Eichel trade.
I’ll have to give it a listen.

If things go badly in November, you definitely don't want franchise icon Michael Peca next to you on the bench waiting to take over |

I thought a staff shakeup was in order. Gerbe said they going to. If Peca wanted the job, it was an easy move. That reasoning is hard to dismiss.

what's Peters saying about potential targets for a Goalie and/or forward? anything.
My dream scenario is they have something worked out with Briere for Hart and Konecny, awaiting Hart to be cleared by the investigation. |

I don't listen all the time, but this is a good one....unless you're a complain about the complainers guy.

Especially a guy that has been doing a very good job handling a bunch of prospects that all seem to be developing very nicely. Thought they would move Peca up to help these young guys on the next phase of there development. |

Great rants today
"The happy little playpen here in Buffalo needed some change
The thought of bringing back Jost, there's other players out there that fit the bill that are super hungry. Much bigger, much better. I think you could have found a different player for the 4th line than Girgensons. Paying him 2.5m is f'ing ludicrous."

hindsight is great cause you can look and go "this is where it went wrong" or "this is where we could have helped more".
I feel like management has really looked at what went wrong in the past here and don't want the same things to happen this time around. A lot of where the "We are going to do what we feel is best for the future of the player" is coming from.
Rushing never worked for this franchise during the drought. And they've yet to rush anything this time around. The slow approach is working. - DirtyDan
Excellent post
Some fans havent learned, but management seems to have learned a lesson . |
