Markstrom would be a more inportant piece to grab from CGY

Calgary sends Markstrom, Lindholm, Hanifin,

Buffalo sends UPL, Olofsson, Joker, Savoie, Kisikev 2024 1st, 3rd

- turbo044

Lot to give up when 2 out of 3 need extensions

Second, you want Markstrom 6M multiple seasons, Lindholm and Hanifin.

Are you extending the other two? One year for Lindholm? Multiple for Hanifin?

Now you're adding 12M onto 24-25, 10M from Ras and, (frank), 6M for Power is my guess on a bridge. No idea how that will be handled, a bridge keeps Power here for 10+ years.

You can't keep Lindholm and you probably need to trade Markstrom on his last year of his deal in order to fit Peterka, Quinn, Levi.

This may not be poop we think about, but they sure as (frank) do.

First, I keep Markstrom out of this unless they take UPL as an even swap, or Comrie and a low end prospect.

Second, if you're getting Hanifin you need to extend him. The trade market for a guy like that is probably around a second tier prospect like Novikov and a conditional 1st.

Lindholm, I'd be willing to bet you can do Olofsson, Kisakov and a 4th.

Not the way I see it.

1 year, absolutely, which is why it could make sense for Lindholm.

You trash Olofsson for 24-25, sure. Where are you putting Benson, Savoie or Kulich if you have a long term vet sitting there?

Good list, I think waiting to sign Power is beneficial at the moment, he will be playing 2nd pairing minutes, 2nd pp etc. What the comps for contract for players in that role?
- washedup20

Power didn't play 2nd pair minutes in his rookie season.

Why would he this upcoming season...?

I meant if they wanted to add 1 more good player long term from outside, they could

there is no chance the sabres can keep all of these prospects up front let alone 8 given the current situation

Yea, I'm over thinking it to justify waiting on his extension for another season.

There's also that 1st round pick you didn't mention .....

Debrincat is from Detroit and apparently would only sign an extension with Detroit

- turbo044

Yes a conditional 1st, probably just as good as the 1st stated in the proposal. So I left it out.

larry-all-day

where's that long term forward going to play? or rather, where the (frank) are all these prospects supposed to go?

This is why Tatar makes a lot of sense to me.

They can only be buried in Rochester for so long. Most of them can go there for at least a year.

I don't think any of them are pounding at the door right now. But there's a real chance at least 3 of them will be, come 24-25

one thing we have to unfortunately think about is, does Don pull a Krebs on Kulich, or whomever the next prospect to come up, and jam them into a Larry role to up their forechecking skill?

Probably not out of the question.

I think it depends if that player is going to be a long term center. Wings can be poopty on D, centers can't.

They clearly want Krebs to be 3C.

Olo, Mitts, Girgs, Okposo, Jost...maybe Krebs.

There's at least 5, maybe 6 spots available by then.

Problem is that is not a playoff ready lineup. And it’s really not a playoff ready lineup if we have injury problems, which we currently do and we haven’t even played a single game yet. We really need a good top 6 winger on a one year deal with option to extend.

On the roster that doesn't have a locked in role:

Mitts - RFA next season
Krebs - RFA next season
Greenway - UFA 25/26
Olo - UFA 24/25
Jost* - UFA 24/25

The idea could be to give these guys (another one!!!!!) next season to develop into roles or ship them out for futures and fill the voids with prospects. Adams doesn't seem to be a fan of trading for NHL talent.

The questions I have are:

1) What is the value of an unsigned RFA?
2) Is there any value other than future considerations for the UFA to be players in Buffalo?

Exactly. None of the young guys are ready this year and if we are reliant on them due to injuries, we are not making the playoffs
