Im just saying I see alot of "we have to many small players"

"we have to many of the same type of player" Yet debrincat was wanted last offseason direly from some here.

- DirtyDan

my post had bad tone but I assure you it was satirical.

There's a strange narrative that the Sabres draft small yet picked only one guy under 6.

If no further dmen are brought in, my guess is Stillman is 7 and joker/bryson are removed.
- TheSabresTaco

I think they keep 8.

Bryson gets moved/waived

One of Joker or Lybushkin is moved for an upgrade and the other warms up the press box with Stillman

Point, Barzal, Makar, Fox all played 2 years of junior/college before debuting.

Kaprisov and Panarin came over in their mid-twenties.

Marchessault went undrafted and spent years in Tampa’s far system.

Verhagee was drafted in 2013 and didn’t debut until 2019.

So out of Rosen, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Benson, who do you see as elite and making the jump to those comps? How long do you think each takes and what role are they playing on the Sabres?

Everyone outside of Sabres fans on Hockeybuzz are completely envious of what we are building here and the young talent that we have accumulated.

Better days are coming

Sure. Maybe. They have Clague and probably Bryson as callups. Not sure you need to keep 8

Could all come from one team if rumor has it.
- DirtyDan

CGY? Markstom, Lindholm, Hanifan (or Tanev)

WPG? Hellebuyck, Schmidt (maybe though he has a NMC), Ehlers (we've always liked him, though again he has a NMC)

PHI? Hart, Sanheim (NTC), Konectny or Laughton

Only one that seems even remotely doable in a huge trade is Calgary

I'd say do what it takes to trade for Saros, sign UFA Tatar and not sure about D, we may have done enough already??

Because many stop paying attention after the 1st round, the real situation is the Sabres team plays soft, so drafting guys (while very talented) who play that similar style exaggerates that narrative.

Does an elite 6'8" 235lb power forward from Michigan crushing it in juniors get passed in the 1st round of the draft if his last name is Hitler?

This is the correct page to bump this too.

He was Vegas’ most impactful forward from beginning to end.

I understand why Marchessault won it, but Eichel definitely deserved it also

- Swedish_Jesus

that is why I laughed

I think Benson has the highest ceiling and floor of anybody we drafted since Cozens. My preliminary thoughts after watching his tape and the 3on3 tournament

PROS:
-His compete is off the charts, ridiculous tenacity. He is absolutely a 200 foot player from day 1
-elite quickness/shiftiness
-elite playmaking abilities and hands
-He's relatively young for his draft class - only turned 18 on May 12

CONS:
Average NHL flat out speed and this isn't likely to change. Not a dealbreaker as the same can be said about Connor Bedard. His quickness helps this "deficiency"
Average NHL shot - he didn't blow his wrist shot passed anybody in Juniors nor did he in the 3on3 tournament. This can be improved (Think Reinhart, who's shot strength was weaker than Benson's at 18 but improved significantly over the years).

It's now 7/12

- No Dahlin or Power extensions
- No Quinn replacement
- No bonafide top 4 D
- Olofsson still here
- Bryson/Jokiharju/Lyubushkin all still here
- No goalie add

But a 5'9 skilled guy fell to us for the 2nd year in a row as the league is trending again towards bigger and stronger forechecks and blue lines so were all good.

You’re not allowed to mention or worry about this until September. All talk of record setting playoff droughts are also banned. Stop crying, here’s a tissue.

I find it funny we(the buzzards) don't ever wanna draft the small guy cause we already have to many, but everyone and their mother wanted Debrincat last offseason.... a guy whos 5'7 and plays like hes 5'7.

Those are fair assessments for getting both.

but our first 4 picks don't play soft at all. the rest i don't know/care. Miedema plays hard.
