Not even close. Prospects are like new cars, most of them lose value their first year.

Lol still on grit thing. We don’t need that 😂😂😂

The defense price we paid was fine

I think you are overreacting

- Sabretooth9

grit is something that adams has actively and publicly looked for recently.

Well you have to consider.

1. Deeper draft

2. How does Detroit view Nate Danielson and Matt Savoie.

1 year apart. Would come down to who Detroit think is the better prospect. This whole value of prospects discussion is ridiculous. Really comes down to how the other team values the player they're trading for.

Ristolainen(as an example) had little value to almost everyone here. Philly clearly saw some value

It’s absolutely true. Look at prospect rankings. The guys at the top a lot of times are from the most recent draft

That has more to do with recency-bias and the league promoting new players IMO.

Use Homies list then for specifics.

An unbalanced prospect pool dilutes the value of the players to potential teams as they know they will not pan out in the Sabres organization.

Years of losing and drafting top of the draft to hold those prospects for years and maybe see an impact for the organization 5 or more years down the line.

- washedup20

what makes it interesting

not all of these skilled prospects will get top 6 ice time in rochester due to numbers

Good point, will need to adjust to roles they have never played before.

Partly. Also because they’re younger, so even more team control, and guys haven’t had time to show warts.

Savoie absolutely has less value today than he did 365 days ago and I’m not sure he really did much wrong.

PK- Brought in a solid PK'er in Clifton. Could of used an Accari for the forwards.

Grit - Both Clifton and Johnson have grit.

Leadership - Okposo, Johnson, Dahlin, Tuch, Skinner

Whether you like the signings or not they addressed all areas you speak of except goalie.

- DirtyDan

Yep - washed up seems to like to ignore the fact that Ciifton was the best PK defenseman in the entire league; yes #1! He allowed 2.34 goals/60 on the PK which is ridiculously good. One could say he was helped by the Boston system. Yes, but, he was still better than all other Bruin defensemen also.

You do realize 99% of players in the NHL were top scorers/top line players on their respective junior teams at one point or another and then are reduced to specific roles in the pros. Especially now more than before as the RobRay's and Andrew Peters no longer exist in the league.

How many of those 99% were drafted in the top half of the 1st round?

If Clifton can solve the teams PK issues than I will happily admit I am wrong.

The coaches/system are the same, will be interesting to see how impactful he will be.

You said they did nothing to address those areas. They did.

You don't have to admit your wrong. We already know.

we traded lafontaine to the rangers for a second rd pick

drafted peters with that pick

he had 18 points in 60 games in the ohl that year

This isn't focused on 1 player. It's a general rule and common sense. D+1 is an awkward place to increase your stock and the expectations are high. The opportunity to draft a kid you want is more valuable than someone else's year old pick....most of the time.
