Because many stop paying attention after the 1st round, the real situation is the Sabres team plays soft, so drafting guys (while very talented) who play that similar style exaggerates that narrative. - washedup20
If you think Benson is soft or plays soft then you'd be wrong. Savoie, Rosen and maybe Ostlund fill your above generalization but Benson absolutely does not. |
|
|
|
So out of Rosen, Savoie, Ostlund, Kulich, Benson, who do you see as elite and making the jump to those comps? How long do you think each takes and what role are they playing on the Sabres? - washedup20
I personally think all 4 of Benson, Savoie, Kulich, Rosen are NHL ready by 2024/2025.
I hate doing player comps, but from a stylistic perspective:
Benson- Marner
Savoie- Marchessault
Kulich- Nederriter
Rosen- Burakovsky. |

They re-signed him on a 2-way.

but our first 4 picks don't play soft at all. the rest i don't know/care. Miedema plays hard. - TheSabresTaco
First 4 picks of this past draft?

Something has to give. Hard to imagine 3G and 8D. - Lunaion
I would think they go
13/8/2.
Rousek’s ability to go up and down without waivers helps that.

thats 12
maybe krebs plays 4th line
thats still 11 guys for 9 slots
they can probably hold 1 back a year, but someone has to go

Good post, I think thats a solid assessment on him.
How long until he see's consitent NHL time and where in the lineup is he slotted? - washedup20
Good question - Call me crazy, but I think he's more NHL ready RIGHT NOW than any our prospects, including Rousek, Kulich and Savoie. Not by a lot but he'd fit in the 3rd line very well right now. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets the 9 game tryout (as Savoie will), and outperforms Savoie. Realistically, I think he's sent back to Juniors, dominates there and at the under 20s, and is a full time Sabre in 2024/25, an inch taller and 10 pounds heavier/stronger. He absolutely projects top 6. I see him on Cozens line. Imagine what a bltch it would be playing against a line of Cozens-Benson-Peterka? That line is 110% effort every shift. |

Clague's QO was 787 and his min celery was 300k.
my guess is they dropped the nhl celery to minimum wage and then gave him an extra 100k for rochester.
otherwise the qo would have been fine. |

I actually agree with this, this was the 1st draft that was taken into consideration when drafting.
The past 2 drafts along with the NHL rosters that were built, were soft. The Sabres today are still in hope one of these guys turns into what they need phase.

I don't know if it necessarily dawned on them this year, but they publicly stated they wanted, and have actively sought, players who are more difficult to play against. Every outside acquisition (draft, trade, UFA) since the TDL has taken this particular issue into account. |

Krebs and Mittelstadt’s seats are getting red hot.
I also think they are in a position to move their 2024 1st and Second rounders as well without hesitation.
Would rather move the 2024 first then someone who has already been in your system developing for 1-2 years.

Maybe. Roch being full on D and G's is awkward, if a deal never happens.

Hence why even without Gerbe’s sources it makes too much sense that trades are coming.
The math doesn’t add up with the amount of d-men and goaltenders we have under contract.
With the forwards Rousek/Kulich/Savoie/Benson all have AHL/WHL eligibility once Quinn comes back.
